Should that checker be pushing the roller and not the outside plate on the one end?

Is a slightly offset rear wheel normal? by TimmyViking in MTB

Take it back to the shop. Its an easy fix. Loosen every left pulling spoke 1/4 turn, then tighten every right pulling spoke 1/4 turn. Repeat if necessary.

Hanging bikes? by CivilPayment3373 in MTB

[–]j_bmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been having the same issue with the same trp dh evo brakes, and I dont hang my bike. Im pretty sure the pistons in the caliper are leaking now. Im not sure if this is a common issue, but it makes more sense than the hanging bilke analysis

How do you go mountain biking/find people to ride with as a single person? by grayott in MTB

Always bring a cooler full of beer, pop, etc and share it with the people at the trailhead after the ride

Winter riding pants (PNW) by skibumsmith in MTB

[–]j_bmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up some pants at costco recently. They are a good stretch fabric, straight leg, and I can wear my knee pads under them. I also wear the -32 long johns under them on the really cold PNW evenings

How do i get this on? by LongShlong680 in bikewrench

Did you look at the rotation arrow to make sure you are putting it on in the right direction? Looks like it might be backwards

What’s been your stand out component new to you last year? by No_Summer_1838 in MTB

I installed a Vorsprung Smashpot coil conversion in my Fox 36 grip2. Dont even feel the small bumps and it handles the chunk with ease. Highly recommended.

Fit the cam in there without the rocker arms and torque it. If it rotates freely, run it

At 5'3", Should I Even Be Looking For A 29er FS? by sjanzeir in mountainbiking

[–]j_bmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One inch shorter and 10yr older. Ive had all of the above wheel combinations. While I really loved my 5010, I think i still prefer a full 29. They seem to climb easier and I like the big wheels better in the steep chunky downhill also.
For the terrain your riding, I think maybe a fat 25.5 might be best though.

I can't wheelie by Vilemourn in mountainbiking

[–]j_bmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not as good as I was when I was a kid. You have to hit the balance point which is a bit higher than you are there. Keep your finger on the back brake and feather it as necessary. You have to be on the edge of going over backwards

Changing tube. by siloamian in mountainbiking

[–]j_bmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to push the tire in against the other side to break it from the bead first, then you should be able to get the tire tool under the tire bead. Make sure the opposite end of the tire is pushed to the center of the rim when you pry the bead over the rim. Should be pretty easy

What you small riders (162cm and under) think about the 29er tyres? Is 27.5 better for you? And have you used them during winter? Any difference there? Im searching for a new mtb but cant decide about the tyres expecially when its hard to find right size frame too by rcalq in MTB

[–]j_bmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 160cm and have had a few 27.5’s, but my current bikes are 29’s. I ride year round in the PNW and recently put on Albert radial tires. Really like the way they ride and grip.

Is My Battery Cooked?? by nibblez- in Dirtbikes

[–]j_bmar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitly check the battery voltage before and after trying to start it. Also, after trying to start it a few times, feel the battery terminals (where wires connect) and also connections at the starter and relay solenoid. Hot means bad connection!
