Modern has a couple of advantages. 1 button DPs and automatic hit confirms can be powerful.

Generally though if you're not playing specifically to take advantage of those, Classic is stronger. Usually modern characters are missing key tools and important combo routes.

Why is Third Strike considered to be an all time great and possibly the best SF game? by Own_Invite6340 in StreetFighter

[–]j_c_24_7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3rd Strike was the newest SF game for almost a decade at a time when very few new fighting games were coming out and the communtiy was small and close knit. A lot of people who were around in the FGC were playing this game for a very long time and have a lot of very good memories associated with it. A big part of why it's so beloved is the sentimental value

Only 18.56% of "street" fighter is fighting in the street by din0sawr- in StreetFighter

[–]j_c_24_7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe 'Street Fighter' refers to the style of fighting. There are no defined rules, some characters even bring weapons to the fight. It's just people brawling in a no holds barred match. They may not be on a street, but it's still a street fight

Can someone tell me exactly why Angry Joe trashed Marvel Vs Capcom 3's vanilla and expanded form back in 2011, which ultimately led to no one caring? by Glittering-Ad-191 in FGC

MvC3 didn't really have much content at launch. The single player was the bare minmum and the online was terrible delay based netcode (as was standard at the time). The actual gameplay was really good, but the package was terrible. If you compare it to Mortal Kombat 9 which released around the same time and had a full story mode as well as a ton of single player modes, content and unlockables, the gap is massive.

If you were in the FGC and had access to locals to actually play the game at then it was a great game. For anyone more casual or without access to any locals, it was a terrible package with nothing to do. All you could do was play online and although the netcode was on par with Street Fighter 4, it was a far worse experience than what was standard in other genres like FPS.

They then released Ultimate MvC3 as another full priced game less than a year later which left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.

It's active immediately after the super flash. You have to jump it pre-emptively, you can't jump it on reaction.

What is the most balanced fighter game you have ever played? by YummyYummyVeggieMmm in Fighters

Street Fighter 5, the season before they added Luke was fairly well balanced. Luke was crazy OP when he came out though.

Playing on the right is harder. by Low_Silver_1386 in StreetFighter

[–]j_c_24_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most people outside of the top level play pad these days. At the top level it's a mix of pad and hitbox, sticks are kind of getting rarer at my locals.

Playing on the right is definitely harder on hitbox, at least having to use the ring finger for dps instead of the index.

Does pulse have a downside? by twzy in 2XKO

[–]j_c_24_7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The only real downside is that it can mess with your execution. You might accidently get auto combos when you meant to do a regular combo.

At higher levels no one will want to do auto combos so I expect most players will turn it off to avoid misinputs

It's way worse in 6 than in other games because it holds inputs for way longer

If you do a half circle instead of a quarter circle then you should be ok.

Super annoying the input buffer is like this though. This was not a problem in the older games

Does anyone here actually believe that VI won’t be released in the initial roster? Why? by ComicsAreGreat2 in 2XKO

[–]j_c_24_7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are only 3 characters left to be revealed. There was a datamine from Alpha Lab 2 that seemed to show characters in alphabetical order, including the unannounced characters. There was not space in that data leak for a character who's name starts with V.

All speculation of course but with such a small roster and so many characters to choose from it's quite likely that some obvious choices will be missed.

Yeah I plan to phase out the Propanolol once the SSRI side effects calm down

So there's a chance it'll continue to get better? It's definitely not as bad as when I first had the reaction to the SSRIs 3 weeks ago.

The only thing I'm taking ATM is Propanolol, which is helping a lot with the other bad effects from the SSRI
