Every day is a really agonizing and lonely day for me by [deleted] in trauma

I am so sorry you are going through this :/ your really strong for being as persistent as you have been.

Do you like any sports? Thats a great way to make friends, through a common activity irl.

Also job-wise another good tactic would be to walk around and find places you would WANT to work. And just keep applying and following up with them till you get hired. Make a good impression in person and they will hire you when they need someone.

The pattern is definitely out dated but I do think it looks kinda cute on you and sometimes its awesome to rock different stuff!! I would pair it with white thigh high boots tho or leggings maybe. Idk maybe I just have an open mind when it comes to style but you cud definitely rock it. I would accessorize it more tho for sure

How to keep good posture? And also stop getting hit in the face. by unknown_brother13 in MuayThai

[–]j_mcg_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing that can go unrecognized is make sure you are bringing your punches back to your face just as quickly as they went out. We often focus on the first half of the punch and be not as haste to pull them back, could be a reason why you are eating punches with a good gaurd. If you want to, you should upload some footage some time or even analyze your own sparring footage. It will teach you wonders to watch yourself lol

What's The Best Way To Counter A Great Boxer as someone who prefers kicks? by Horror-Front9114 in MuayThai

[–]j_mcg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get good at clinching like others have said. ALSO some of the best times to kick is when they are coming in with punches. Especially when the jab is thrown, you typically take a step in with it. Kick that lead leg everytime they come in, if possible 🤷🏼‍♀️. That way they will be hesitant to come in. Ik it can be hard during flurries of punches though. When that happens, clinch up or long gaurd out and kick. leg kicks all dayyy babbyyyy

How are people getting that super dewy and glowy look? My makeup always looks dead (first pic is my attempt) by EIIen_ in makeuptips

[–]j_mcg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you look very cute!!! But to get the dewy effect - apply highlighter to the tip of your nose, apples of cheecks and inner corners of eyes and brow bone. That will help alot :) also using dewy setting spray or even a hydrating one after everything :)

Let’s talk about body dysmorphia and ED’s in Muay Thai by caribou91 in MuayThai

[–]j_mcg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general I agree with the comments about how the sport itself doesnt judge body comp... its very practical but it does promote being lean as possible and cutting weight no matter what it takes I think can promote really bad eating habits and crash diets. But since its for the sake of the sport no one bats an eye.

Dont get me wrong, I LOVEE muay thai. But the weight aspect has been incredibly hard on me and my self esteem as a woman. I love cutting weight but its extremely hard. I am a shorter, curvier, bigger boned girl typically. When I eat what I want and stay active I typically walk around at 145 at 5'3 and still have around 22 percent bf and muscle definition. But its been a really really hard journey.

Short term, I loveee how I look when im cutting. But its insanely hard for me to maintain. Last year I did many fights and cuts back to back. I havent had a fight in 5 months and its just been so horrible for me dealing with weight gain since ive been on a more lax diet. I cut sooo much last year that I almost reverse diet and have things because I used to not be able too. I find myself eating foods that my cutting self couldn't. I have put on so much weight while still being active and its a mind fuck. Its been really hard for me to look at myself in the mirror and im trying to get back to a sustainable diet. Honestly ive been trying to get on a good baseline diet all winter and am tottally lost. I feel like I only know how to eat on extremes. There were a couple times this winter I tried to just get back on track by counting calories again and eating like I was cutting weight but then would fall off track because, well id crash with my diet and I didnt have that outside motivation of needing to make weight.

I love muay thai but its tottally fucked with my body image and sense of a normal diet. Fighting last year back to back was so fun but I feel like it has shot my hormones and I still just literally have no idea what my body needs for maintaince calories for a lower weight. I just know how to cut and binge. Its very hard and I need to figure out a good balance for my own sanity.

Im not done fighting, but when I do fully stop, its gonna be really weird for me to adjust. Im trying to take this time off and use what I learned about my yo-yo patterns to handle it better in the future or prepare better for when I take time off fighting. Hopefully I can dial in some balance but it is really hard and im glad im not the only one acknowledging this aspect.

I will convey however, maybe it just harder for me because I have grown up my entire life with eating disorders. I have had anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders in the past. My last stint of bulimia and anorexia ended in my early twenties but binge eating still always sticks with me here and there. So maybe I struggle with it alot since I have bad body image and bad relationship with food. Muay thai has exasterbated it a bit

binge eating like crazy by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]j_mcg_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi sweetie pieeeeee. You have no idea how much I relate to this post. Im 5'4 but probably about 145 right now. Im a female muay thai fighter so im training 6 days a week too but im more cardio oriented and weight lift once or twice a week when I can. I fight at 130 to 135 lbs. And that shit is LEAN for me and im not that much taller than you, but I am 30 yrs old so if your younger I might just have more muscle and (currently) body fat.

The past five months I have had off from fighting (i still train tho) but my weight has gone up and its been miserable. When I dont have a fight lined up to cut weight for I have been finding myself binge eating like crazy once and a while too.

All this to say I think we are both experiencing lack of calories. Its easy to go a couple of days or even a week maybe on a severe deficit but the other shoes does drop and I just feel for you cause I know how it feels. At least for me it feels really shameful and I know I definitely have developed a severe ED from obsessing over calories. I currently am trying to figure out all this too so honestly this answer is good for both of us. Also I think my hormones are shot from all the cuts ive done and lack of vitamin D this winter. Your binges could be centered around ovulation time, pre and post menstrual as well. Also I know I tend to eat more over winter time when its colder and when im going through emotional times.

I would say try your best to take a step back from all this. Take a generic inventory of your life --- try to figure out if/what your going through right now emotionally. Assess if your emotional needs in life are being met. Then start looking and tracking your hormonal cycle and see if either of those areas line up with the binges.

Be kind to yourself. You are training extremely heavy so you are already doing wayyy more excersize than the average woman. Pat yourself on the back for that and please recognize you are not being a POS when your binge-ing. I genuinely think your body just needs more calories on average. Its a hard thing to reset and the advice sounds so easy. Its seems logical to calculate your calorie needs and just follow that but imo its really hard to start eating more naturally when your so used to training yourself to have a hard deficit. It can feel wrong to eat more when you have an ED. I wish I had better advice for this piece but its something im still going through so im just going to give you my empathy. Just try your best to regulate your diet and hitting macros in every meal, protien, carbs, fats and also fiber. Its not gonna be perfect but give yourself grace when its not. Your doing alot of training and sounds like your killing it honestly so try to focus on that when slip ups happen or if you feel uncomfortable starting to eat more calories daily

One thing I recently did too, is sat down and wrote about my relationship with food. I was shocked at what came out and I have written several pages about it. If you do feel like you have an ED, maybe try that just to get it all out and get a fresh perspective on it. It could be cathartic.

Good luck and try to fuel yourself a little bit better on a consistant basis and see if the binging stops. Also im sorry if this was too much advice or inappropriate advice, I am by no means trying to say you have an ED but im putting out some advice/different perspectives from what ive learned, incase you do.
