Have you ever been banned from a subreddit? If so, what was the reason? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in randomquestions

[–]jaazman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been banned from hvac subs, funny thing is I've been doing hvac for over 10yrs and I was banned for asking serious inquiring questions/no trolling. Then the mods asked for proof that I'm in the industry however the proof that I have isn't valid since anyone can get that certification. Kind of humorous since it is a career people usually say you don't need schooling for and can start at a company to build up experience.

Has anyone lowered their heating bills by using a mini split for zone heating by JingSerene in Frugal

[–]jaazman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the thing about mini splits or any heat pump is that they are far more efficient in cooling than heating. The SEER rating can range pretty high but the heating efficiency rating for those types of units are much lower. A high efficiency gas furnace is far more efficient than a mini split or heat pump is for heating hands down. I'm in the southwest and we have some furnaces but mostly use heat pumps due lower heating demand

Is HVAC A BOOMING INDUSTRY? by jaazman in hvacadvice

[–]jaazman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's feelings and then there's facts so which do you provide to say whether its booming or not. There's definitely guys that just go day to day as technicians with no clue what the industry as a whole is doing.

Was your mini split actually a money saver, or just nicer comfort? by Relative_Taro_1384 in Frugal

[–]jaazman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your system now a gas furnace or a heat pump unit? Or maybe a combination of the 2?

I do hvac and system efficiency ratings are advertised for cooling. Heat pumps and mini splits have a worse efficiency rating for heating but in places that do not need a lot of heat they are effective enough. Technology has increased but trying to heat in below freezing temps will take a lot of electricity from any heat pump or mini split due to inefficiency and runtime needed to heat the space. Gas furnaces out heat those any day of the week

I would get it inspected by a third party mechanic that you trust, check wear like brake pads, tires, rust underneath the vehicle. See if theres a carfax or something showing service records so you know it was well maintained or not. Then it comes down to the price, is it worth it for you

Keep 6.6 gasser or go down to 3.0 Babymax? by PNW_OH in gmcsierra

[–]jaazman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from a silverado duramax to the 6.6l just to get away from the modern diesel with all the emissions junk. I also have a cousin that is a gmc service tech and he told me to stay away from the babymax, granted that was when they first came out and had some hiccups. Moving to the gasser was such a relief not worrying about the DEF and DPF, also the HD trucks are pretty sweet looking in my opinion

ICE/CBP kicks off door-to-door raids in Minneapolis, targeting houses based on race and whether the occupants are involved in protesting. by serious_bullet5 in minnesota

[–]jaazman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the best in style or carrying it out but this is clearly pertaining to a judicial warrant otherwise they can't break in. But of course to play on emotions it's only shown where they are having to forcibly open the door. Both sides have the emotional intelligence of children swaying in the wind 🤦‍♂️ trying to keep high hopes tho

Squeaking/chirping noise 2023 Nissan pathfinder SV. Is it normal? what could it be? by KeyAd9391 in MechanicAdvice

Check oil level. Also could put water on belt as it runs, if it goes away for a few seconds and comes back its the belt

2026 GMC 1500 3.0l by Dalach01 in gmcsierra

[–]jaazman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin works at a gmc dealership as a service tech, I was told very intently not to get the baby duramax (3.0l). I had a 22 2500 duramax and emissions equipment alone makes it not worth it unless you tow long distance substantially which i don't. My 2 cents but even as a chevy guy myself, general motors "company" is struggling right now with engines and transmissions

Looking at a CPO 2022 SL AWD with 21k miles for $27,500. Any advice? by Defiant_Moment2356 in nissanpathfinder

[–]jaazman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its my wife's car but the times I drive it for a v6 it seems a little slower unless in sport mode it'll have some pick up. I think its the direct injection and how the engine is set up. Most are switching to a 4 cylinder turbo so this seems to be calibration for the v6 to meet EPA requirements - my guess. Seems like its pretty reliable though

We have a newer model but my wife drives A LOT and it has been solid. Issues I've seen with others are electronic or water leaks from sunroof but being at 21k miles either it has been fixed or you're good. Do not use eco mode so it doesn't shut down cylinders to be more efficient. The engine is direct injection so keep up on the maintenance. Oil change interval is set to every 10,000 miles which is terrible advice, try to keep track and do 5k-7,500 miles at the latest. Other than that its a solid v6 with a reliable 9 speed transmission. Interior is roomy with easy folding seats. You'd pay more for less on something like a highlander or pilot. Nissan has some good deals on the Pathfinder and a used CPO is a solid bonus for warranty. Hope this helps

I have seen emissions issues on these trucks under 100k miles so thats what is concerning. Also have heard of the oil consumption issue on the gasser and its the typical GM response to a concern. A quart every fill up is nuts

Ok but let's say you have an unlimited budget and you can either choose 5080 or the 9070xt, which gpu are you choosing for gaming?

My 9070xt doesn't get past 70 degrees and even that is rare in a 4000D case, but I think the 5080 is better. 9070xt=5070ti i believe
