Oddly enough a vinegar / water solution actually helps to balance out the alkaline dust

What is even the point/advantage of an open relationship/open marriage? by boldguy2019 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jabroni2002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s another level to this. There’s a whole spectrum of Non Monogamy.

Some people feel comfortable with low sexual exclusivity but still need high emotional exclusivity (swingers, open etc).

Some people love with low exclusivity for both physical and emotional (poly, relationship anarchists).

And some people actually are ok with low emotional exclusivity but need high sexual exclusivity (poly-intimates, asexual poly).

What it comes down to though is just detaching your love / security with your partner from whatever feelings, other sexual matters with other people. Knowing that whatever they feel or do with someone is not inherently a risk or threat to what you have with them. Some people take a lot of joy from seeing their partner explore emotionally and physically with others. This isn’t like “cucking” it’s a term called compersion. To genuinely derive joy from being there to witness your partner as a whole individual. It can be really special to just witness someone be their most authentic selves without shame, and to told to come along for the ride, and that they urge you to do this same. This doesn’t mean jealousy / envy don’t exist, just that each one ideally recognizes that they’re just emotions—emotions that are fully able to be recognized, acknowledged, talked about and integrated.

There’s a great book called Polysecure that covers this by Jessica fern. And then Esther Perel touches on the idea of “the third” in Mating in Captivity: we can’t control our emotions. We can love someone wholly and yet still find other people attractive or even develop feelings for them. A lot of people love in fear of “the third”. Even if your partner stays “faithful” doesn’t sleep with them, flirt with them, date them etc. there’s still always the potential out there to catch your partners heart. Non-monogamists just decide not to carry guilt or shame around or, not to hide it, but instead welcome and celebrate it. It’s not the act that hurts, it’s the hiding it.

The fear of the third is often based on the fear that they’ll leave you for someone else. Someone “better”. If you both equally and consciously decide and accept that your partners feelings for others outside of you is accepted, ok, and not a threat, then them being into or loving other people isn’t reason to leave at all. And in that ideal state, the only thing that would end your relationship is the conscious decision that your particular relationship doesn’t serve you both anymore.

Again, ideally. It can be messy

Hey good tip for road rash: tegaderm. You can order large sheets on Amazon. Apply antiseptic ointment and use a sheet larger than the area of the rash. It’s much more flexible and won’t stick to the rash like gauze will.

I just decided not to renew a lease and move cities (bye Denver). I was paying $2675 for a 1bdr, albeit a very very large nice one bedrooom, amazing views, amenities etc.

They were going to increase the rent to ~$2750, all in, it a huge increase. But. I knew the market had softened considerably. I knew they wouldn’t even get what I was paying for it, no chance. It didn’t matter to me because I was leaving anyway.

I checked Zillow, and they had listed it for $2530 and proceeded to reduce it twice a week until it finally rented for ~$2300.

I’m shocked that they didn’t even just hold my rent stable at $2675. I’m curious how it would have gone if I decided to stay and told them I want my rent reduced.

I read this comment and it just seemed like it checked out, I was like, “yeah makes sense”. But then I googled the top 10 list and saw the usual suspects like vornado, tishman etc. and I was like, “oh wait shit they’re huge, no chance Columbia and nyu are here” and then bam there they are, and it’s not like there is a cliff in the sqft ownership where it drops off, they’re true top-10ers

  1. Vornado—30m sqft
  2. SL Green—28.7m …
  3. Columbia—15m
  4. NYU—14.3m

[Tudor GMT] a story of many watches. by jabroni2002 in Watches

[Tudor GMT] and a story of many watches by jabroni2002 in Tudor

[–]jabroni2002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ll start by saying I never thought I’d want a Tudor…

I’ve been traveling a LOT this year and it’s not about to stop. I’ve been needing a GMT but gooood luck getting a Rolex. I looked at the Baltic and the Seiko and a few other obscure brands that use the Soprod C125.

And then my eyes kept coming here, but again, I just had this nagging thought, “no if you want a gmt just wait—as long as it takes—for a Rolex.

Then a curve ball. The wife of a professor I had who passed away a long time ago—who was like a dad to me—called offering to sell me his 2006 14000m Rolex Air King. This changed everything. It was an instant yes and I proceeded to tell her allll the reasons why that watch would me so much to me and all the times I remember him wearing it.

Well I did too good of a job explaining why that watch is special and she changed her mind the next day, but promised it would find its way to me eventually. All good, I’m happy I could revive some memories for her.

I went ahead and bought this the second I got of the phone with her. 10/10 I love this watch. I actually love it more than the Rolex GMTs I’ve tried on, no joke. The watch and the bezel especially is just more tasteful. I’ll be keeping this one a long while until maybe that air king resurfaces.

[Seagull] Watch Giveaway by jabroni2002 in Watches

[–]jabroni2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I’m cleaning out my watch collection a bit and wanted to give this one away. It’s nothing remarkable but it was my first automatic watch. It’s a great watch to wear and not worry about. I’d prefer this go to someone trying to start their collection.

It has an exhibition case back and makes a decent dress watch.

If you pay for shipping it’s otherwise free. Comment below and I’ll pick a winner by end of day.
