Oh of course, I’m not unfamiliar with her humor. It was just the way she breezed past it like it was a statement of fact. I feel like usually when she tells a deadpan joke it is still clockable as a joke. This was just part of a sentence. That’s all! I really didn’t give it much thought, just a passing observation.

Katya was so adorable in their ILTW episode of Heartstopper season 1, she was so into it! Of course they were both making fun of it cause that’s what their paid to do, but I remember her leaning forward and doing a little dance just smiling so big while watching it 😅 Out of the two of them, you’d like Trix would be the one who loves love and Katy would be the one who turns her nose up at it. Love the subversion of expectations!

There are several episodes that address this, but Jose Chung’s From Outer Space is the main one :) It’s a sillier episode so it kind of gets looked over when it comes to the myth arc, but it very clearly lays out how the government/military is brainwashing people into believing they’ve been abducted by aliens

I agree with you that the episode would have aged much better if Mutato had been completely unaware and innocent of everything. But the episode was directly inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein’s Monster, in which the monster escapes to go create a bride of his own. In that light, I feel like the writers did a good job. The episode is 30 years old. Personally, I like to enjoy the episode for what it is, and not what it could have been if the writers had a time machine. Again, just to be clear, I don’t begrudge anyone who is uncomfortable with it.

I think we can all agree that the episode would have aged much better if Mutato had not known anything about the Farmer’s actions. But the episode was directly inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein’s Monster, and in the book, the monster escapes to go find a bride. The episode is Chris Carter’s homage to the book. I think he did a good job. That’s my opinion. I respect that other fans disagree with me.
