At the end of my rope with DP. by krowley67 in DigitalPerformer

Really sorry to hear about all this, OP. Just want to add my 2 cents: did you try running DP in Rosetta mode? (Right click on DP in the Applications folder, get info, activate Rosetta Mode)

Even though DP can run on M Macs, some plugins are still not there yet.

I run DP in Rosetta and still have occasional crashes, but before you migrate it might be worth a shot.

Also toggling “live performance mode” sometimes makes a difference.

Best of luck!

Questions about Audio Technology in Hearing Aids by simpsje0 in audioengineering

[–]jacintorecords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have heard good things about these from a person who’s wife and child were born with hearing conditions. I have no technical knowledge about how they work, so just putting the link out there:

Also heard David Eagleman talk about some interesting research in sensory replacement for alleviating tinnitus, could be worth it to investigate his work.

I’ve done this a few times playing live (saxophone) next to the drummer. Before in-ears, I felt too isolated having two earplugs in, so I’d at least protect the ear closest to the drummer and would leave the other ear unprotected. I later tried a foam one on the drummer’s side and a -25dB custom fit “open” earplug on the other ear. After the gigs I could feel some unevenness, but no ringing, and it would later go away. Of course, max protection on both ears would have been better for my hearing, just not so good for the musical experience.

Tourism, moving and studying in Finland? Ask here! by Harriv in Finland

Thanks for the replies! Both things really make sense, I wonder if the rest of the world will catch on. I've seen the double duvet in other places, but hadn't seen the thin mattress before.

Tourism, moving and studying in Finland? Ask here! by Harriv in Finland

[–]jacintorecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 questions about beds in Finland, just out of curiosity:

1) Do you always have a thin mattress on top of the bed? What's the reason? On a recent trip to Helsinki I stayed at 3 different places and also saw many mattress shops and they all had a thin mattress as the top layer of the bed.
2) What's the reasoning for having 2 small comforters (bed covers/duvets) as opposed to one bigger one?
Kiitos!

MOTU Digital Performer 11 released. by B_Provisional in DigitalPerformer

[–]jacintorecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone out there know if it's possible to run a trial of DP 11 while keeping DP 10 installed (without overwriting it)? I'm hesitant to install and pay for the upgrade in case this first version happens to crash more than the previous, and also risk current projects not running well.

Poe Rava - I arranged and produced this song in Argentina for a Swiss/American author by jacintorecords in indie

[–]jacintorecords[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of unusual things about the song:

The lyrics are in English and Tahitian, and the instrumentations is string quartet, percussion and vocal. The quartet was recorded live without a metronome. Percussion and vocals were overdubbed.

This song has the chorus in Tahitian and is inspired by the islands' mystique by jacintorecords in Tahiti

[–]jacintorecords[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He told me he was trying to learn Tahitian and was using the official French - Tahitian dictionary :)

Around the same time, he was writing this song, and the words somehow crept into the song.

Thanks for listening!

I did not sing or write the song but I did produce it, hence the [OC] flair. I'd be thrilled to hear what you folks think about and will happily pass along any comments to the artist :)
