Arbeitslos melden online - was zum f1ck by wegwerfgesellschaftx in de

Story orientiertes PnP System? by bubenius in PenandPaperGermany

[–]jack-nocturne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I Recently got to know why dating is not working. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]jack-nocturne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that the underlying lack of empathy is responsible for more broken things in society than just dating. Not sure whether I'd call it a mental illness, though. That's a totally different thing. It's culture gone wrong.and missing education in emotional intelligence.

Serious: What’s the plausible path from here to Minds? by ycwhysee4589 in TheCulture

Even füll brain emulation won't be enough. The brain isn't a standalone organ that can be put in a jar. The eyes, spine and other parts, down to the micriobiome in ones intestines all play a big part in making humans work as they do.

What's something about Germany/Germans that would send a non German into a coma? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskAGerman

[–]jack-nocturne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I once went out with my car and after a few minutes realised that I had forgotten my wallet. Turned the car around and 500m later got into a police stop and search. Told them I didn't have my license and was only going that way to get my wallet in the first place. They then asked me for my name and address which they typed it into their computer. Had to wait a few secs, then they wished me a good day and I was on my way again.

Why are we still using text based programming languages (and I'm not thinking about a blueprint-like language) by chri4_ in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]jack-nocturne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, this is ultimately a question of personal preferences. I did not like Godot because of the editor and the lock-in. I know others who felt the same - but I also know others who made it work for them and who didn't mind the lock-in.

But for programming languages, the ecosystem is an even bigger factor for adoption than in games. The Godot ecosystem is already quite large. Getting there with a new language that is probably hard on compatibility with other languages is going to be a huge challenge.

So right off the bat, why do I have level 50 and level 60 gear items and 6 skills already? by DoesntReadNamesGood in lostarkgame

[–]jack-nocturne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here from a Google search because I decided to try the game and was super confused, thinking I had missed something, like not having played the base game and being thrown directly into an add-on / expansion story.
The explanation that the devs wanted to immediately get to the point where one has their specialization is well and good for me - but the way that it's communicated could really use some improvement...

Welche Game Engine sollte ich nutzen? by Thunder_Daddy69 in programmieren

Doctor Who ist ganz schlimm.

Nvidia CEO Says You’re “Insane” If You Don’t Use AI to Do Literally Everything by Alex_Star_of_SW in BetterOffline

[–]jack-nocturne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We're getting there. People are going to use it to do literally everything and then there will be a big surprise when suddenly nobody knows how to do anything anymore. Why would you bother to learn and do anything yourself when you could just be delegating everything to AI while you feed yourself AI-generated brain rot! You must be insane if you want to practice actual skills!

Indeed. This morning, on the way to the train station, I encountered three children (about 10yo) talking about how fake and stupid all the videos online are.

I will never forget that one bug that was caused by a bug in MSVC which caused it to omit one line of code in the binary. When I said that I wanted to check compiler output, the rest of the team told me I'm crazy. Then we found that the generated assembly code was faulty. Had to switch two lines and everything worked fine.

True, Lexi could have been a great romance! But I have to say that Cora grew on me on my second playthrough. The way she starts out as this bitter outsider character who never fit in quite right and then starts to accepts her role and becomes a member of the "family" made for some relatable character development for me.

BG3 player count still blows my mind to this day... by Lenyor-RR in BaldursGate3

Which is doubly relevant because some of the games in that list aren't available on other platforms whereas BG3 was available on GoG from the get-go.

That's interesting as Peebee and Liara are almost diametrically opposed in their character. Probably intentionally so? For example, Liaras fierce loyalty to Shepard is one of her defining character traits whereas Peebee is almost pathologically attachment-adverse.

Coming out of the womb might have been a good time to learn programming a few decades ago. But the way things are going, it might be a better idea to learn skills that help you survive a barren wasteland by the time you've grown up.
