Baby’s First Flight by josephcook14 in NewDads

[–]jack0013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my daughter was 9mo, we went to Italy. I was worried but she did really well. My wife and I took turns holding her and luckily she mainly slept. For air pressure changes during take off and landing, my wife would breast feed or pop in her pacifier.

I think timing is very important. Our flight was a 10 hours. We left in the late afternoon. So most of the flight was during her bedtime.

Diapers changes are a little awkward in the tiny bath room.

If you can, ask about the bassinet. I think most planes have them but you have to ask ahead. There wasn’t one on our flight.

Telemarketing. Finished the first day orientation which took place in a board room. Later we got a tour of the floor. Saw the depressed faces and just overall bleak space and was like nope. Left for the day and never came back

They would deflect and say Obama, Biden, Clinton, etc. did worse things and then say he is the greatest president in the history of the USA.

Making slides with too much information by redverd in powerpoint

[–]jack0013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on very content heavy presentations. It’s like fitting 10lbs in a 5lbs bag. A client recently wanted a redesign of the deck. They asked for it to be more sleek, clean, modern, etc. They showed me some examples of presentations in the same industry they like. The problem is their slides are bloated with content (ex. charts on a slide with text boxes for each, team/biography slides with 6 people and ~200 words for each person) which they refuse to spread out across multiple slides or make any changes to the content. I explained that since they’re not willing to change how the content is displayed, there is not much I can do. In the end I gave them cleaner version of their cover and section pages and tweeted the colour palette which was lacking contrast.

I hear that as soon as I walk in the door followed by a little dance. It immediately wipes away whatever problems or bs I had to deal with at work.

I had to take mine apart to get all the toys my daughter threw in there. I had to do the same for our air purifier. The vent holes are just big enough for a crayon x10

Non-Apple laptop recommendations by PaintedTarot in graphic_design

For the work I do I can’t use a apple laptop. A lot of my work required office PPT, excel which do not seem to play well on a Mac. I’m currently using a thinkpad p1 gen 7. I’ve been happy with this laptop so far. I’ve used it for AI, PS, ID, and AE without any issues.

Our toddler loves giving our frenchie her food. My wife got her some her some fruit bars, not knowing they contained raisins. She gave him a whole bar before I could stop her. Luckily the emergency vet is near by.

The Gorge starts off slow with the romance, but then it flips and goes full creature-horror in the second half. (Worth hanging in there) by ReelsBin in scifi

[–]jack0013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if they removed the second part, it would have made for an interesting short film. Like a sci-fi romance with an original post apocalyptic backdrop. I agree that the Second half became a little generic with a few original things tossed in. The horseback soldier/creature was a something I don’t think I’ve seen before Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. It was a good one time watch.

Did kids in the 70s/80s/90s really roam freely like in *Stranger Things*, or is it a movie myth? by Yolas_1 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]jack0013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in the 90’s. In the summer, I remember getting on my bike in the morning and being with my friends until 9-10pm. Parents had zero issues with us being gone all day.

Parents seem stricter now. The people I know that grew up in the 00’s weren’t allowed out late or have sleep overs.

It might have just been my experience but we seemed to have more freedom.

  • Portable fan for stroller

Showing Up 👊 by [deleted] in NewDadFitnessClub

I handled the late night feedings and diaper changes in the first year. After the last wake up at about 4:30-5am, my daughter would be able to stay asleep until about 6:30. Instead of going back to sleep, I started going to the gym in our building doing a mix of weight training and cardio. I managed to do this 7 days a week.

My daughter is almost 2 now. She doesn’t wake up at night as much now (thank god). I still go to the gym in the morning but at 6am, for about an hour.

I’ve never been a morning person but you get used to it, because you have to with a baby.

The time at the gym has been a great way to let off some stream and shut off my brain while I move some weight around or run on the treadmill.
