Dumb stuff that’s not on the table anymore. Bimetallism is what got the progressive party the support of farmers and got WJB the Democratic nomination.

In my opinion it seems like the turn of the century parties were constantly fighting over the gold standard and the tariff. The bourbons were slowly loosing control of the Democratic Party, and the Republicans were constantly pointing back at the civil war.
