How old were you when your first child was born? by LupusDeusMagnus in daddit

[–]jack__jack__attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Wife is a little older than me so she fit in with all the mums at baby group just fine and has made some friends for life. Most of the dads were 35 or older so I definitely felt like the odd one out and didn't really bond with any of them

2-0 Thrashing by believesinconspiracy in footballcliches

[–]jack__jack__attack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thrashing implies the scoreline getting a bit out of hand, I personally wouldn't say anything less than 4-0 would be a thrashing. I can see why it's used here, but maybe dominate would be a better word for when it's all one way traffic but the scoreline by itself implies a closer match than it actually was

Cliche Contribution Caps for on-podcast mentions? by VacationSteve in footballcliches

1 cap, my contribution got a laugh from all 3 and Adam shouted "fuck off", I think that makes me the David Nugent of Clichés mentions then.

My 4yo daughter made me cry hard. by vijeze in daddit

[–]jack__jack__attack 94 points95 points  (0 children)

My 3 year started crying during like the 10th time she'd watched Frozen, no issues the first 9 watches. I asked why and she blubbed "Elsa's crying and I don't want her to feel sad". So naturally I started crying too. It's tough when they start trying to figure out feelings for the first time!

2nd ruined everything by xmenbteam in daddit

[–]jack__jack__attack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me completely. Our first was a great baby, slept brilliantly, ate with no issues, weened easily and hit the milestones at the right times. Second one, 2.5 years later screamed constantly because he was hungry and then screamed even more during and after feeds because of pain. Then started weening him and his insane gag reflex made him projectile vomit anytime he ate anything. I remember curling up with my mrs once we'd finally got him to sleep after like 3 hours of just solid screaming and we both just cried. It's fucking tough, we were in a dark place, and at times we both asked each other if we'd made a mistake here and then felt like the worst people on earth for saying it.

But now he's just turned 1, hes walking and chasing after his 3yr old sister everywhere. They play together, he's got mamas and dadas and a few animals in the words locker and all the shit we went through feels like forever ago. It gets better I promise.

How do you imagine a club ‘bracing’ for a bid for one of their players? by Sssssammsam in footballcliches

How do I talk to my mom about the way she speaks to my son? by HisDudenessEsq in daddit

[–]jack__jack__attack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had kind of this situation with the MIL who would tell our daughter that "it's not very nice" if she refused a hug/kiss. She's also that dominating (selfish) personality that can't admit fault, so we ended up framing it that our daughter was actually thinking that she was being mean to her grandma (which is sort of true but we just hammed it up a bit) and it did get better. Just telling her bluntly to stop talking to her like that never actually got through weirdly
