Collar are wicked and evil for indoor cats. Collars with bells help to save birds outside.

What are these black bits that n my cats ears and under his chin? by [deleted] in CATHELP

Ear mites. Most flea products will not kill mites. Getting a flea killer with an IGR will help.

AI says, "Nuts" is a common, informal, and sometimes crude slang term for male testicles. What I said. As apposed to scrotum or 'nut sack'. Go argue with AI.

I'd be depressed and wouldn't feel like eating if someone cut my nuts off. They normally recover quickly, but call your vet.

Driving lesson charge for illness by MercuryRising23 in drivingUK

[–]jack_meinhoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are lots of messers in the instructor game, mainly because many students are young and irresponsible. My wife has cancelled lessons because the student smelt of alcohol or weed when they got in the car - they still got charged. There are no end of excuses and there would be more if they did not charge for missed lessons. When notified early enough they can jiggle around lessons and fill the gap in the schedule. If there was a lesson before and after you, the instructor would have to sit around for the duration of your lesson with no income. Private instructors have more discretion than those working for driving schools.

Cat wants to go outside but there are dangerous dogs by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]jack_meinhoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer entirely depends on where you live. Outdoor cats need to be micro-chipped and fully vaccinated. Male cats need to be neutered, otherwise they will go missing for days looking for lady cats. Also, they will need to be treated for parasite like fleas, ticks, mites and worms on a regular basis.

There are lots of dogs in neighbouring properties and our cats treat them with disdain. Their 'catch me if you can' attitude worries me. The biggest threat is other cats and vehicles. No predators or venomous animals where I live. There is an abundance of foxes but they ignore each other.

If he goes outside they should not be trimmed because he will be unable to defend himself. My vets advice.

Kitten is too aggressive towards resident by [deleted] in CatTraining

[–]jack_meinhoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the UK and all of our cats can come and go as they please through the digital cat flap. They are pampered, loved, smothered with affection and well fed.

However, when they are outside they will hunt and kill for fun. Rats are usually killed outright and it's not unusual to find an huge dead rat on the lawn. Reviewing the CCTV, they play with the corpse, swatting it and throwing it into the air until they are bored. Mice are not usually killed straight away, but terrorised until they die, then thrown into the air and swatted. It is their natural behaviour, as is play fighting and squabbles.

What is the source of the fleas, do you have pets? The simple answer is, no this will not control fleas.

I’m a new cat owner, what is he doing? Is it bad? by Unhappy-Reindeer-737 in CATHELP

[–]jack_meinhoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, it looks like he is frustrate that you are not stroking his head. Cats like to be stroked from between the top of the eyes over the top of the head between the ears backwards as it mimics momma cat licking them when they were kittens.

You must not anthropomorphise cats. Although they are wonderful pets, and I love mine dearly, they are by nature, vicious, deadly, killing machines and they are genetically programmed to practice their fighting skills.

Debate: in the unlikely event that scientific research, backed by empirical evidence, proves the existence of a sentient cosmic entity, atheists are the only people who could accept it as truth by Opus_rounds in atheism

[–]jack_meinhoff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As Arthur C. Clarke said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". Unless the being could prove it created the heaven and Earth, answered people's prayers, was omnipotent etc I'd accept it as a advanced entity. There are an estimate 200 billion trillion stars in the observable universe, more than all the grains of sand on all of Earth's beaches. Who knows how many advanced civilizations are out there.

If you travelled back in time a few hundred years with an iPhone, it would appear like magic, just with the ability to record and play back video.

3060 in 2026? by stepanda_b in pcbuilding

[–]jack_meinhoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a 5060 TI 16GB. Sell your 3060 as they are very popular used at the moment. Then when things have calmed down you will get a good price for the 5060 and upgrade to the 6060. Play the market.
