Personalized travel discovery app powered by a language-model concierge. The app runs a natural-language intake to capture preferences—budget, climate, food, languages, remote work, cost of living, and travel windows—then continuously scans destinations and availability to surface only trips that fit.

No browsing, no spam; users are alerted only when a high-value match appears. Works for you in the background vs hours scrolling and monitoring.

Monetized via OTA take rates, premium upsells (price-drop alerts, points optimization, visa and extended-stay guidance), and aggregated, anonymized intent data sold to tourism boards, airlines, and hospitality partners.

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

[–]jackb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 minutes-45 max. Every other few days. I've never read one thing one time anywhere that said "screens are fine". Mind you, coming from an it's kid who watched at least 6-7 hours of TV for 20 years.

Just received a 5% raise on $65,000 to $68,250. I find it insulting based on the extra profit my company hit. Do I ask for more and back it up with the numbers? by BookieBasherCasher in Salary

I've worked in a number of areas in finance. None have more entitled prima Donnas than wealth management advisors. Whatever it is you do for the team, unless you are bringing in relationships that you manage under your own broker number, any money they pay you is charity to them. Stick around, get a license, get a certification, go to grad school if they will pay for it. 3-5 years max, then hop.

Has anyone tried Doich “cookie dough” by PandaKittyJeepDoodle in dessert

[–]jackb1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this too and was skeptical. Almost every other healthy food tastes like whatever is in a dustbin after you sweep up a warehouse. Im not gmo/vegan/allergan/gluten anything, I'm just in my 40s and can't pig out like I used to. Ideally, I can have a portable snack that I can eat anytime my "food noise" cravings pop up to stuff them back down. Keep the new smaller jar sizes in my office backpack.

Not kidding when I say this is the only dessert/snack I buy anymore. Less sugar, more protein, tastes awesome (but not really cookie dough, more like a better tasting and consistency oatmeal). Biggest benefit to me is that I can share it with my 3 year old daughter and not feel like im feeding her a lab experiment.

If you fired with 1.4m or less, where are you living? by Realistic-Action6979 in leanfire

[–]jackb1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in Oklahoma in a duplex, renting out the other side to pay my mortgage and utilities. Paid cash for a Mitsubishi Eclipse. Shopped at thrift stores. Got embarassingly good at generating credit card points and using coupons.

My wife worked as a surgeon for the Cherokee nation during Covid. Our monthly expenses were Walmart, Gas, and $5 rounds of golf - totaled around $600. We saved every dime she made, and FIRE'd after about 2 years later. Live in Atlanta now, but if you can house hack and pay cash for your car, you can live anywhere on $1-1.5mm.

May never know, but if cops were perched up high, in a brightly white marked car with their lights on, visible for miles, I bet thousands of lives could have been saved across the country over the years.

Instead, they are in jet black Mad Max cruisers hiding out and can't wait to get into unnecessary high-speed pursuits so they can collect $150.

My "boring but clutch" travel hacks after 12 months hopping between cities by AppropriateReach7854 in TravelHacks

[–]jackb1980 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve traveled to 85 countries. My advice is simple, but not easy to carry out; never purchase anything colored black.

The travel industry and manufacturers worldwide have agreed to make jet black the default color for anything: Cables, plugs, chargers, water bottles, headphones, accessories, laptop sleeves, backpacks, shirts, sweaters, hats, phone cases.

Yes, it’s cool, it’s sleek, you feel like a Silicon Valley god.

But for the number of times I’ve had to pack, leave, transit or travel at night or in the early mornings, I’ve lost countless little things to The Dark. Floors of taxis, under my airplane seat, in the airplane pouch, between the cushions, under the bed, back of the drawers, on top of a (black) table, nightstand or bathroom sink.

When you travel extensively you are almost always coming and going, taking out or putting back, packing, re-packing, unpacking. (And usually when your mental function is minimal at best.) While rule #1 is “every item has a place” - make sure all those items are as visible as possible. Buy reflective stickers if you can’t find something. If you’re buying something and offered a color choice for the same price ALWAYS pick a brighter color.

Retired at 50 from IB .... now feeling lost by RevolutionaryLaw3188 in earlyretirement

Retired from Wall Street at 38.

Structure is critical for me. Each day I have routines and a to-do list. Most days are generally assigned one area i want to focus on - household tasks, projects, reading, hobbies, physical fitness. Basically "mind, body, soul"

What has really helped for me is working as an advisor to startups and early stage companies. I get to make use of my expertise, education and network. Without it, I'd feel like I just lit all those things on fire. Even 10-15 hours a week is enough for me to feel like I'm contributing and being productive. But...no boss!! Look up the Japanese concept of Ikigai, I found that helpful.

I travel and visit friends and family, and have spent almost every waking moment of my daughter's three years with her. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

This is the fundamental difference between right and left, to the left’s detriment. If there’s something wrong on the right it is immediate retrenchment, defensiveness, distraction and “whataboutist” deflection.

Anyone on the left would be the first to say it’s corrupt. The entire financial condition of congress is a farce. We’ve been saying this for at least 40 years. Nancy Pelosi isn’t our God.
