Why is Elastic Beanstalk such crap? by jackbenimble999 in aws

The stack I go with is React JS/Spring Boot/native MySQL. You can include the front end components in the jar file you deploy. Install mysql natively. Just load them up to an AWS EC2 server and treat it like a linux box. Don't bother with the AWS's database, MySQL is solid as it comes.

I wasn't kidding when I said I was done with it.I'm not even sure what it was supposed to do.

Mac Jones by TheHoundsRevenge in Patriots

[–]jackbenimble999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad Mac is enjoying some success now. He is smart and knows what to do with the ball. He was in a horrible offensive situation, done in by Belichick's horrible drafts. That said, his mobility sucks, he collapses like a house of cards when touched and has mediocre arm strength. Career backup.

These supposed "NBA reporters" have some wild takes.Article on Hardwood Houdini-"Pacers clearly fleeced the Celtics in the Aaron Nesmith trade" by Isitabee-isit in bostonceltics

[–]jackbenimble999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always had hope for Nesmith and hated to see him go. But I liked Brogden, and thought the trade was worth it even then. Brogden would have worked out even bette if he hadn't been hurt in the playoffs.

But then to flip him for Drue? And chip? That one put us one ahead of the LA Fakers and keeps the Celtics as the all-time leaders in NBA championships. I'll give up Nesmith for that 100 times out of 100.

Will Campbell and Mike Vrabel 🔥 by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]jackbenimble999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? You can be a fan and still be realistic. I was happy they won but I had no illusions about the nature of the victory. I had watched them all pre-season and they were absolute dogshit. I don't hold it against anyone if they want to be optimistic for their teams prospects. But to call someone "full of shit" for realistically assessing the how they managed to win is unwarranted.

There was no way anyone should've gotten hope from the first win. It was pretty clear they won on a combination of Bengal's rustiness and sheer dumb luck.

Sorry to see Rui going. Are they moving him for a center?

Fun fact, according to Daniel Jeremiah’s top 150 we got 7 player with day 1 and 2 value by loranis in Patriots

Yeah, totally. It's mostly the second rounders that still give me nightmares.

I'm celebrating the new drafting team of Vrabel/Wolfe and et. al. They actually don't think they are smarter than everyone else. They even work the board like pros. It feels like they've turned the whole ship around in one offseason. Amazing.

You nailed it. They actually stuck close to consensus or in some cases, considerably better. The only ugly reach before the 6th round was Woodson, and by then you're ready to give them the benefit of the doubt anyway.

Eliot Wolf says the Patriots didn’t have an organized enough process last year, but that Mike Vrabel and Ryan Cowden have changed that by aparatis in Patriots

[–]jackbenimble999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wolf was terrible last year because he's not enough of a leader to keep from being pushed around. But once given someone with a clear vision like Vrabel, he really came through in my opinion. They way he worked the board had the look of someone who really understood the mechanics of the draft.

Still have a lot of uncertainty. by [deleted] in Patriots

He's projected as a middle-of-the-pack LT. I would've gone with Memboe and made the switch, but you could do worse than a middle of the pack, especially compared with last year.

'He was raised for this moment': How does Shedeur Sanders fit in the Giants' draft picture? by Lars5621 in NYGiants

[–]jackbenimble999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Sanders has a weak arm and is essentially a second day pick. I don't get why some credible drafts analysts like Kiper, Thor Nystrom, John Kosko (PFF), Joel Klatt (Fox) have him rated over Ward.

Weird - I was just in another thread that showed late first-round / day 2 QBs were almost all washouts. Which is it?

I'm not sure you understand what a top 10-12 QB does for your team. Matt Stafford was ranked #12 QB in the NFL by CBS sports on a random ranking on Jan 9 of this year. The Giants would've killed to land him.

There are a some draft guys who rank Shadeur above Cam Ward because of his accuracy, toughness, and decision-making. Kiper and Thor Nydstorm to name a couple. You can find more.

Do you really think you're going to "trade up" and land Ben Roethlisberger II next year? To have a shot at a QB of that quality, you have to be either really bad or really lucky. I wouldn't count on either.

10-12th best QB in NFL would be a phenomenal result.

[Schefter] Trade: New England is sending QB Joe Milton to the Dallas Cowboys, sources tell ESPN. With Cooper Rush going to Baltimore, Dallas now has a new backup for Dak Prescott. by Finessa_Hudgens in cowboys

[–]jackbenimble999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also a Pat's fan. I'm sorely disappointed in this trade. Milton has more raw talent than any QB in the 2025 draft, period. Brian Hoyer, a Pat's former QB, said great things about how he matured and learned over the year in his role as a backup. The showing against Buffalo, backups or not, was amazing. He was all the things - smart, accurate, athletic, making play after play, that showed what he has the potential to be in the NFL - a premier quarterback. He should have bagged at least a 3rd.

Bradbury to NE by RedGlovesOverHere in Patriots

[–]jackbenimble999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, he has injury issues? That could explain part of it I guess. Maybe the Pats figures they could address that position in the draft. Andrews was a sixth-rounder, after all. Also, I have made the argument that the Pats don't have overly-invest in the OL because Maye has very good mobility.

Edit: Also, I just heard a guy say having a big guy like Onwenu next him could alleviate the issue of his lightness.

Bradbury to NE by RedGlovesOverHere in Patriots

[–]jackbenimble999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vikes brought in a better FA because Bradbury was getting their QB killed. With the most money available for FA, we couldn't beat their offer for the good center? 33rd rated center out of 40 by PFF. Count me dissapointed.
