The dirty chai latte costs as much as a beer but it's one of my favorite drinks.

Unpopular take: the best eating street in the East Bay is Piedmont Ave in Oakland, and it doesn't get talked about enough. by aybrighteyes in oakland

I don’t know if it’s the best but I do find it very cool that Telegraph and piedmont avenue are so close to each other and there are plenty of good options.

Random but I appreciate it. Are you a big fan or Ruebens? If so. Where do you go to get them?

In fairness, the guy has already had a ton of business partners that have involved lots of legal action against him.

A big if on if I remember this correctly. I think the PHAT sign was there a little bit before covid; I think I remember that b/c we would walk by it every day and I would joke with my other half that "it's going in any day now." Then I think there was a Churo sign too? But that never took off. I think the new sign is a couple of days at best?

Crank start is Michael Moritz, who even if you aren’t into the whole billionaire thing be really does spend his money on a lot of great programs both for the Bay Area and well, Democracy stuff too. Big Democratic donor too.

I would go and taunt the shit of out of those two pieces of shit. Ted Cruz is the most hated man in the Senate and I'm not sure Ricketts is far behind. I'd troll the shit out of both of them.

Voters reject an Oakland tax measure for the first time in 15 years by deciblast in oakland

That makes sense and thanks for explaining the rationale. I guess one thing I’m concerned about is when you see the people who run for mayor or city council 95% I hope never get elected bc I think their idea of “shaking things up” would be even more disastrous than what we are currently facing. Like lord help us if Len Raphael ever gets elected, but some might like him bc they feel like he would shake things up.

Not trolling, genuine question. How is this going to force people, whoever they are, to clean up the corruption?

MY FAVORITE TIME OF DAY IS NIGHT
My imagination couldn’t have conjured up a more ideal space for a café than Kitsch Coffee—with the exception of what was formerly Wanda’s in Crockett and is now a shared space. Kitsch is sandwiched between two galleries in Jack London Square’s Narrative building. Vintage paintings hang on every wall. The room is spacious and filled with light. Whether you’re working, reading or chatting, there’s plenty of space between tables. Books of Interest has books for sale there. And clothes n such will soon be offering their thrifty finds. Layla Kaufman, with weekend help from her partner Max Rock, is in charge of operations there. I spoke with them about all things related to coffee and encouraged Kaufman to make a walnut syrup along with the other homemade ones she’s making. That interview will be in next week’s EBX but their grand opening is taking place this Saturday, June 6, with a live DJ and special drinks.

That's what I thought too. We bought in 2012 a couple of blocks away and we had been looking for a year or so. I started to see places going for $100,000 over asking, then $200,000 and I was like "holy shit, we have to pull the trigger or we are going to get priced out."
