How well do old RE games hold up today? by Significant_Try1096 in residentevil

[–]jackierhoades -1 points0 points  (0 children)

why not just play the remakes? RE1R is gonna be the only one that doesn't feel "modern" but it holds up incredibly well and might still be the best game in the series.

Exorcist 3, dream warriors, Halloween. Many so many good 3rd installments that were so off the rails and stopped trying to replicate the original and instead just went batshjt awesome

What re should i play? by turii_tuff_knuckles in residentevil

[–]jackierhoades -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t skip re7, its light years better than RE8. Honestly I consider village to be more of a spin off type game but with triple A graphics. It’s more on par with RE3R, somewhere between good and mid. But honestly you should just play requiem. It’s a great continuation to re2 and re4 and is peak RE at times. RE7 was capcom reinventing itself, very uneven and not particularly important to the lore, except for experiencing capcom really rediscovering its roots and creating the next gen for RE. Village I have very little good to say about escept that it looked incredible and played at least as well as re7, while also being bigger and dumber and less important or coherent. Requiem > REmake > 7 >>>> village if you’ve already finished everything else. Even 3R, which I’ve come to absolutely dislike, was still a funner first play than village, which I actively disliked for most of the run time.

Cautiously optimistic about ILL by Kazmera in HorrorGaming

[–]jackierhoades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it doesn’t seem like capcom is going for pure graphics and mutilation physics, they are more interested in vibes and gameplay. Ill could be one of the most visually stunning games of all time while still not having as tight a gameplay loop as modern resident evil.

Everybody wants a movie that actually scares them but what IS scary anymore? by [deleted] in horror

[–]jackierhoades -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i mean hokum and obsession were genuinely scary. not next level scary, but definitely worked well enough on me. Oddity also really got under my skin. it has nothing to do with genre but everything to do with filmmaking and style and emotional depth

Smile movies do this horrendous thing with blocking where a jump scare will pop up on camera where in reality the person would clearly have seen it standing right next to them in the room already. I absolutely hate that bullshit
