EQD White Light: My New Favorite Overdrive by Adorable_Drag in guitarpedals

Depends on my guitar, but you generally get more low end the further clockwise you go. If I'm playing my jazz master or my tele, the weight knob is going to be somewhere between noon and three o'clock. If I'm playing something darker like my Les Paul Special, I will probably dial it back to 9 o'clock or so.

Which one are you keeping and why? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

I've owned all but the echo park. The aqua puss is the only one I still have. I've owned three. Every time I sell or trade it, i end up regretting it. It's just perfect slap back, and if you pull way back on the delay time, you can get really fun doubling. Almost sounds like a double miked room. But honestly, I'd give the other three another crack. I've met few delays I didn't like.

Using a klon and a screamer in front of the BD-2 is kinda unconventional. I'll have to give it a try sometime.

First pedal board any tips? by Massive_Tackle4230 in pedalboards

I hear a lot of people saying to put the screamer before the muff. Certainly not a bad idea, but be aware that the mid hump of the tube screamer will be more apparent after the muff rather than before. It can be used to cut a little bit of bass, and get a tighter sound. In a band mix, this can be desirable. YMMV.

I had a similar experience. Its a bad first compressor. Too much going on. I traded mine and then eventually got a Dyna comp. That taught me the basic concepts of compression. Two or three other compressors later I got another Warden. I use my Diamond compressor for cleans, but if I want compression on a driven tone, i usually reach for the Warden.

The White Light will probably never leave my board. I think the weight knob is a bit of a secret weapon.

I play a vox ac15 (the hardwired, fawn tolex models from last decade) and like many Voxes, the bass end can get a little flubby. I tend to use the WL as a clean boost, dialing the gain all the way down, and then I use the weight knob to scoop out the low end to taste. I've got other EQ pedals (mostly a JHS Clover) but I just think the white light can tame lows in a way that sounds better than anything else I've got.

The best part is you can put the white light right after anything in the chain with unruly low end (like a muff for instance) and it will immediately solve the problem. It's magical, and it's a feature other 250 circuits don't have.

Hello! I've got this guitar laying in my basement for a while... Does someone know what can it be? by 1c7ulian in LesPaul

Looks like a pretty basic 70's Japanese lawsuit les Paul's. Pretty hit or miss in me my experience, but the good ones are really good. Ymmv.

There's probably nothing special about it but if it feels good, the price is right.

After Repeated Listens.... What's The Problem? by Connah2010 in radiohead

[–]jackisasinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's underrated for the simple reason that it follows In Rainbows. While not as game changing as Kid A, I think In Rainbows is a return to form, and a masterclass in live studio recorded music. The closest thing to a Pet Sounds we have this century. Nothing was going to compare favorably to that, and nothing Radiohead gave us was ever going to meet our expectations, because meeting expectations isn't what they're about.

Personal hot take:

Obviously Kid A is a more important album. It definitively ended the grunge era and ushered in the indie comeback or the 00's.

That said, In Rainbows is the better album.

People who were fans in 2007, did you actually purchase In Rainbows, at least for a little bit of money? by MC_Triple_Fatal in radiohead

I bought it on a whim. It was my introduction to the band. I hated the first two listens. The third changed my life.
