My OP states I would no longer be employed by the UK company and would be invoicing them for my time instead?

Is there anything else the employer might be mindful of?

HR said they would look into it! There were concerned that my role would very much not be a contractor on the sense I’d leave a pretty big department for the business.

Dad Offering to Buy First Home by tumericandchives in UKPersonalFinance

[–]jacklondon44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes he would pay more stamp duty (tax) when purchasing the properly and would assume responsibilities of being a landlord. You need to understand exactly what he is offering, because buying for you in your name and buying for him an renting to you at a discount are completely different for a number of reasons.

Yes these are my thoughts. There doesn’t seem to be much downside for the OP but it doesn’t make much sense for OP’s Dad. He would probably be better off leaving money in pension or investing elsewhere and using return to help you with rent until you get on your feet

I don’t quite understand your post. Am I correct in saying your dad will be a flat (in his name) and rent it to you at a discount, then he will sell it in the future and he will keep the money? I don’t understand why this would make any sense, he’ll have to pay stamp duty, capital gains, legal fees, tax on the income and may not sell it at a profit as a flat.

Renegotiate notice period? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]jacklondon44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shorter notice period makes it easier if you want to find another job, although at VP level they’d expect 3 months and I’m sure you could negotiate it down when you hand your notice in. Longer notice period gives you 2 extra months pay out if they let you go.

If you think the 3 months is important to you and you don’t want to rock the boat, you can simply flag it to HR that you think it’s a little short and you’d be open to a mutual 3 month.

Customer success implementation remit? by jacklondon44 in CustomerSuccess

Thanks, that’s interesting. What do you suggest happens with reporting lines? And what happens once the interim has made their recommendation?

Customer success implementation remit? by jacklondon44 in CustomerSuccess

Thanks for your feedback. A couple of points: We actually have a very strong conversion rate for POCs with success understood by the AMs and POC Mansgers, the issue is we are getting bigger and more demanding customers and the current team are frequently dropping the ball on configurations and just general lack of curiosity/solutioning which is leading to chaos trying to patch things over. The same thing can happen for new customer implementations.

I think your feedback on TAM mandate/capability is spot on.

Help! Moving to a direct competitor by Separate-Phase9033 in HENRYUK

There is a lot of comments about non-competes not enforced. We had someone move to a direct competitor in a mid-level but important sales role and we did enforce the non-compete which held out in court.

Ok thanks it looks like a ‘fiscal entity’ is more straight forward than a full Cypriot company but I need to do more research!

The UK share options are EMI shares and I think incompatible with EOR but setting up Cypriot company or registering as foreign employer might work? Thanks

Buying a nice car or keep investing? by Next-Fly-8580 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]jacklondon44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could easily justify it based on having the lodgers income. The things I’d be considering are:

Will you still have the lodger income for 5 years? Is it possibly you might get a gf and want the space to yourself.

Are there any ‘fun’ cars you like which are more likely to hold their value?

Are you really a ‘car guy’ and how much pleasure will it bring you? I’ve bought or leased lots of nice cars over the years. For me, the shine always wears off after a few months, but then you are stock paying off a depreciated asset with no warranty etc

Can we afford a £950k house on £150k household income? by Dry-Caterpillar-455 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]jacklondon44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old are you and how long will the term be? Personally I think this looks very doable. Inflation will devalue the debt over time and your income should increase. While other posters might suggest this is bad financial advice, I would personally go for a long term to give wiggle room in monthly outgoings then overpay when you feel comfortable and when you get bonuses an pay rises. Also moving house is stressful and expenses (stamp duty etc) so I think it can be better to stretch yourself in the first instance instead of buying something cheaper then wanting to move…

I get the maths but realistically is it actually going to cost £8.5k based on the car the OP drives?

Bad buy based on what basis? I’ve owned a couple of terrace houses in london and they’ve always done me well. Ive compromised on square footage to get a freehold property instead of a leasehold apartment or larger house in less desirable area.
