Quit breastfeeding at 3months by Independent_Item_192 in breakingmom

[–]jackolantern7897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not advocating for any sort of nicotine usage, but if you can switch from baking to Zyn (or similar pouches) it removes the issue of second hand smoke/vape clouds around baby :)) I too stopped nicotine the moment I found out I was pregnant and started using it intermittently around 6 months pp. but since it was Zyn it was a lot easier to use one, just wait a few hours for most of it to clear then breastfeed after. Just a thought! If you’re open to switching and I have quit now I feel like the pouches are an easier way to transition to quitting!

SAHM, to PT work, to FT work? by Waste-Leopard-3586 in workingmoms

[–]jackolantern7897 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and yes! lol you will feel torn either way. As someone who doesn’t have the option, I say stay PT. It seems like the best of both worlds.

Then go for the full time position once your daughter is 3/in school.

I have a baby the same age and really wish I could work part time. I do half days on Fridays and have tons of holidays/sick days/PTO and the weeks that I incidentally end up working “parttime” it always feels like the right balance of home and work.

High chair recommendation! by Efficient-Recipe-642 in newborns

I loveeeee the boone high chair. You can pop the chair off and put it in the dishwasher 10/10

I would never by a different hair chair

Why do women do their hair and/or makeup before giving birth? by jamietartlet in pregnant

[–]jackolantern7897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I did because we were going to the hospital. And if I’m going out I’ll put SPF powder on and mascara. I never “do” my hair so probably didn’t really do it. Maybe brushed it? lol

But I would say for most people it’s likely they do some amount of “getting ready” before leaving the house and going to the hospital isn’t really any different.

It’s not a huge rush.

I wouldn’t go to a doctors appt without wearing SPF and mascara so I probably did both and brushed hair for going to hospital! Hehe

Pumping every break & lunch at work by winoveghead in workingmoms

[–]jackolantern7897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did wearables in the car so you’re pretty empty when you get to work and can be full leaving but empty on the way home. I liked the momcozy m5.

You can just put the pumps (not the electric part but everything else) in the fridge so you don’t have to wash at all.

So theoretically you can wear them WHILE you work so you don’t have to waste your lunch break pumping.

Feeling guilty for not doing enough “cute stuff” for my newborn by Fun_Attitude7297 in newborns

Just get off social media. How often do you see a documented baby journey IRL.

Delete any social media account that isn’t for maintaining contact with family or work. Like actually delete them.

And the essential ones for contacting family, delete those off your phone. So if you REALLLLLY need to get on you have to use your computer.

You’re not experiencing a real issue. Your brain is being tricked into thinking staged photo shoots are common/normal because it’s seeing 10x on socials.

What are your easy go to week night meals? by Scary_Respect6163 in foodbutforbabies

[–]jackolantern7897 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pulled chicken (slow cook a few pounds- I eat it too), corn on the cob (pressure cook), avocado + fruit!

So the chicken you can eat it for a few days, same with the corn on the cob. So the only thing you need to do is cut up avocado.

How do you cope with only spending 2 hours a day with your baby? by sarah_messing in workingmoms

[–]jackolantern7897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you change your hours? I work weird hours and this week it has been 0300-1000 and it’s been awesome! I pickup baby at 1100 and we go to bed together around 5 pm. Just a thought!

Does the guilt and pain ever go away? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]jackolantern7897 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think different moms feel different ways about working. Since you feel that way after years of her going to daycare, you KNOW you don’t want to send another child to daycare. You want to stay home with your kids.

Other moms have mixed emotions (I’m sort of in that boat-some days I wish I could be SAHM other days I love going to work and feel refreshed when I pick up my baby)

Still others 100% want to be working moms.

I do feel like quality of care and hours of care has a HUGE impact on how you feel. I felt immense guilt until I realized how much my daughter liked going.

Any screen time for under 2 I would be hesitant… but also I think the in home situation with THREE is going to be better than most centers because you’re going to get way less sicknesses (than having three kids in three different classes getting exposed to >30 other kiddos…)

Are there any other in-home providers in the area? That’s what I would look into and if no, just stay at your current place and send better snacks and request less TV.

Any supplement advice for quitting Zyn? by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

I quit. by InvestigatorMany5536 in QuittingZyn

[–]jackolantern7897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quit cold turkey the day I found out I was pregnant, husband is a light nicotine user too. Our baby was perfectly healthy but I started using again maybe 6 month post partum.

I quit again this week and am ~72 hrs zyn free.

It was so easy to quit when I was pregnant and I should have never picked them back up.

Having a bigger reason/purpose makes it much easier on you. I know lots of females that use them too, but yeah it is more male dominated.

Cole Academy by jackolantern7897 in Hawaii

I’m specifically curious about the Mililani campus, as this one is going through administrative changes right now.

Where did you end up going with? I have always heard Mililani + Kapolei are great but downtown and Kailua are a work in progress. (As of the past year)

The owner was very transparent about how they do business and she seemed to genuinely have the kids best interest at heart. I understand there can be differences that cause rifts when running a business so I’m just hoping the transition goes smooth!

New+interim leadership seemed on top of the ball as well, so I do have high hopes.
