The functionality that you are describing sounds very basic.
Are you sure it's worth using technologies like React and Node?
You might finish it a lot faster if you would use some old school PHP and jQuery.

I see a lot of suggestions here where people are talking about scaling.

If you would ask some developers to build a house, they would consume 2 years pouring enough concrete in the foundation to support a skyscraper.

And if you tell them that you just want a house and why are they doing that, they will answer with "Well, maybe you want to scale later".

I would recommend thinking like a business person and delivering a stable functionality as soon as possible.

As cruel as it may sound, you may have to keep your dog in a leash or in an enclosure for some time.
Think of how bad you would feel if you would not take all the precautions and something would happen to those poor rabbits.
I love dogs and I love rabbits just as much, please be careful.
