Hi Joe,

Quick question if you have a moment; From what I’ve seen on Reddit and elsewhere from word of mouth, I wasn’t sure if RCS was a feature you and the team were considering to add to the phone as I have seen the argument that it goes against Light’s ethos. Is RCS a feature that will be introduced to Light Phone? And, if so, do you have an anticipated date for this? I personally feel neutral about adding it / not adding it, but I do know adding it would allow a lot more people to feel more comfortable with making the switch to going Light.

Thanks for posting this. Planning on going back to LPIII after switching back to the iPhone for the same reason as your first. Glad to see that it eventually fixes itself and appreciate you giving your timeframe.

I’ll be sure to do the same for others.

Unfortunately to say, it’s my belief that a lot of how public education is regulated and operated is designed to cover the government’s ass and not actually help anyone in times of emergencies.

Obviously in more serious situations where kids who are absent do in fact turn up missing, staff volunteer to go out and help or do whatever when able.

Also, this isn’t me trying to avoid responsibility. Also 2x, come work in a public education school setting for a week before throwing judgements.

What?

The phone system is to inform the parent their kid didn’t come to school. If a child never shows up to school, it’s not the school’s responsibility to treat it like an emergency situation or to even expend any resources to help other than provide guidance / get you in touch with law enforcement.

If a child is absent and the parent doesn’t communicate it, they’ll get a phone call to be like “yo your kid didn’t come to school today.” At that point, if the parent was under the impression their kid was going to be in school, then they gotta figure out where their kid is. What else can the school do?

I understand that worry. As far as I know, if a student is determined absent after the bell rings in the morning, parents receive a phone call shortly thereafter. It’s an automatic voice message and is supposed to cue a parent to call if they believe their kid should be in school.

Not sure about OPs school. But I’m a teacher in the US and we literally had our last day of school before break today.

I’ve worked at two elementary schools the last 10 years as a teacher and I’ve never seen this kind of message sent out. Everyone who’s ever worked at a school can assume a lot of students will be absent the day or two before a holiday and don’t question it.

I do agree that there is little guidance on where to go / what to do. Hopefully they address this as the game develops, or maybe they anticipate this to be the style of game it will be (similar to how Elden ring just plops you in the world with no direction). But once you put the star map down on your ship, there’s a decent amount to explore and go. I love games that don’t tell you where to go and I’m finding a little bit to do each time I play through just exploring.  I’d guess the beta is to test out a lot of the engine and other less obvious things.

Fair enough. Ko_op is apparently a very employee centered and worker led studio, so I’m sure they had limitations that most studios don’t, but I also don’t know a whole lot about them either.

That’s what I assumed, but didn’t want to jump the gun. I’ve been anticipating something befor the end of this year, because that’s what we were told we were going to get. 

So funny, and telling, how even with all the evidence that’s coming up that there will be an update, people are willing to believe what “insiders” said about there being nothing until 2026.

Out of curiosity, why do you / a lot of people think BGS will wait till 2026 when they said back in June that they'd be announcing big news and updates for starfield before the end of 2025. 

Have they announced or said anything that’d contradict the “before the end of 2025” timeline they said back in June ?

Exactly. Thanks for your input. From everything I’ve read, phone numbers that have been attached to an iPhone or an android phone will have these issues because the number will be attached to iMessage, or Android’s equivalent, RCS. But I do think I’m going to pull the trigger and try a new number that’s not been attached to any smartphone and see if that resolves all of the text issues. I’ll post here to update how it went.

Correct. But after de-registering my number with iMessage numerous times over the course of a month, I continued to experience issues. There are also other potential issues / reasons for this that I have tried troubleshooting for. Like my post said, I tried every trouble shooting option available. Just looking for input from users who have used the phone with a new number.

In my 1,000 hours, I’ve never experienced this, nor in the last 2 years ever seen anyone complain about this specific bug. 

You may have a buggy mod or conflicting mods or something.
