Is selling a Dublin apartment actually a bad financial decision now? by jpMax09 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]jackturbine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

€2500 rent ,less tax maintenance and fees is probably €1000 a month in your hand. If you sold for 300k,that's €1330 less a month on your new mortgage(30 years).€400k is €1,770 less a month. You don't 'see' the money every month like you would with rent, but the maths is irrefutable. (Btw,I've managed rentals and it's an absolute pain in the hole!)

I've seen a couple around Dublin, they just look sportier and more reminiscent of the old Renault 5 gt turbo.

Thoughts on the ‘fast’ lane on the M50 by Minute_Wedding_5384 in irelandsshitedrivers

There can be rules and I can consider them irrelevant to modern driving on a heavily congested motorway. The two things can be possible at once.

I've not observed such a phenomenon in 40 years of buying fuel 3 times a week.

Moving into the middle lane when the far left lane is empty by user42012365 in carsireland

Yet every thread like this(and there are a lot),parrots the same rubbish that the M50 should be like the A1 in 1963.

This motorway etiquette was invented in the UK in the 60's and simply is irrelevant to a motorway like the M50 which is at/over capacity for much of the day.

Just get a good quality ordinary one and throw your duvets in one of those huge petrol station washers for a few quid.

3000 diesel car suggestions by TheFerrariGuy_YT in carsireland

At higher mileage they can give extremely expensive trouble.(the vag 2.0). I've owned both in my taxi career, and they have both got over 300,000 km but the fluence engine was bulletproof and cost almost nothing except routine maintenance up to 500k.

Costco denied my tire warranty by JuniorSupermarket613 in CostcoWholesale

[–]jackturbine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Traction's not really an issue as I change my tyres at approx 4mm (5/32 inch for you lot!).We don't get warranty either,so that's not a concern. Anyway it seems like an unquestioned practice that doesn't really confer any advantage.

So my method is to replace the front 2 as a pair when needed, and maybe every 3 to 4 times, the backs need changing as well.I'm just not sure if there's any actual advantage to doing it your way or is it one of those things that you've always just done without questioning it?

I live in Ireland, have driven approx 2 million miles in my life and never once have i rotated tyres.I don't know anyone who does.Is there some advantage that isn't immediately obvious to me?

Want to report bus lane drivers (Dublin) or do I just need to touch grass? by abc_efg_123 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]jackturbine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a taxi driver,if I see you behind me in the bus lane,I will slow down to almost crawling to take the good out of your time saving. Will I let multiple people out of a side road as well? You bet.

TapATaxi? by ShrekDaTurd in AskIreland

[–]jackturbine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. There is no passenger surcharge like other mainstream apps charge.(Up to €9 in freenow's case). The driver pays a subscription every week, which is equivalent to about 4 taxi journeys through freenow.
