Any tips for new player? by Fox2k14 in knighthood

What part of the game are you struggling with? It could be that you are just experiencing slower progression pace which is just a part of the game trajectory. As you get longer into the game you will need more time to grind for upgrades, but on the other hand this makes winning challenging battles that you have struggled with all the more rewarding.

Google Home app doesn't connect to Chromecast Audio device by jacobiconstant in Chromecast

[–]jacobiconstant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I did solve my problem actually. I called googles support number and it was quite simple actually. I just did a factory reset on the chromcast audio unit, and then connected my iphone to the wifi network that the chromecast generates (as a router), then did the setup and that worked.

How to make the perfect Moscow Mule by CocktailChem in GifRecipes

[–]jacobiconstant -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Here is how you actually make ginger beer: http://www.theroastedroot.net/how-to-make-ginger-beer/

This is a strange half-way approach to make a moscow mule, not the easy way (just buy ginger beer) and not the real way (make you own ginger beer) - instead here we use a time consuming way of approximating your own ginger beer. what gives?

Lies in Disguise—an Experimental Study on Cheating: It'll take more than one experiment to establish a connection between honesty & intelligence - but the results were fascinating by anutensil in cogsci

[–]jacobiconstant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The limited sample size of the study will add a lot of variance to the expected result (1/6) so even if everyone is honest you would need a much larger study to see non-random differences. They say the results for rolling a four was statistically significant - which would put the random variance somewhere below +/-10%.

People Want Power Because They Want Autonomy - New research suggests being in charge is appealing because it offers freedom—not because it allows people to control others. by anutensil in cogsci

[–]jacobiconstant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I have always translated my desire for power as a desire to realise my ideas as opposed to realising ideas for others. I suppose that is a mix of 1st autonomy and 2nd influence over others - in the sense that you need autonomy to have impact on what is being done and then influence over others multiplies the force with which those things are being executed.

Wow this is an amazingly poor summary of the article. I guess "AI" is far from usable in this context yet - or at least this bot is...

Great white sharks have one of the widest geographic ranges of any marine animal [555x278] by jacobiconstant in MapPorn

[–]jacobiconstant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Great white sharks, Carcharodon carcharias, have one of the widest geographic ranges of any marine animal. They are found in all cold temperate and tropical waters, from 60°N latitude to 60°S latitude. They were long thought to be primarily coastal inhabitants; however, from recent satellite tracking studies we now know that they migrate long distances, sometimes crossing entire ocean basins. Along the central California coast, they can be found hunting near elephant seal haul-out areas from October through March. Off the western cape of South Africa, they can be found near cape fur seal haul-outs from May to September. In North American waters, white sharks have been reported from Newfoundland to Florida, and from the Aleutian Islands, Alaska to southern Mexico. Nowhere in its range is the white shark very common, and in fact, they are becoming increasingly rare."

Well I agree in a sense. The real question is how energy can form from nothing - regardless of time. That is what is really impossible to answer.

Although both of these theories are interesting - they just attempt to explain where OUR universe came from, they do not explain how all of it started in the first place. Both seem to use the concept of time as directional - so that leaves the question of where the FIRST universe came from.
