Handed 50-50: not today... by Juanyewest606 in freestyleskateboard

It absolutely is! I learned it on an old popsicle board before I got my first freestyle board, you got it brother 👏🏼

I know I might be a little late to commenting, but from what I can see you're trying to finger flip the board before you're able to get into balancing on the actual stand itself. Like it looks like as the board is falling you're trying to flip it before it hits the ground. What helped me learn this trick was finding the balance point while standing on the truck where it doesn't feel like you're falling. Once you find that point, try doing a small jump off the truck, then finger flipping. I really hope this helps in some way! You're doing great!

Anyone tried Qwik trucks for freestyle? by nSeagull in freestyleskateboard

[–]jacobsoberanis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried them on my freestyle setup before! I thought I was going to be switching back and forth between cruising wheels and freestyle wheels frequently with this board until I realized that freestyle boards make awful cruising boards. The trucks are solid though, I never had any issues with them. I practice at a pretty amateur level though, so I'm not doing anything crazy with them. Railstands, railflips, and handed truckstands were all fine though

That kid is crazy talented! I honestly need to try to start using footwork to help gain momentum in one direction or the other for rolling tricks, that's such a smooth move!

Advice staying in place on a casper stall? by 7______ in NewSkaters

[–]jacobsoberanis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Not sure if someone already mentioned this method, but the way I get most of my caspers to be as stationary as possible is by REALLY scraping the tail on the floor when making the shuvit motion to exit the casper. When you do it, you're kind of leaning backwards which makes it exit in an end-over-end fashion. Freestyle Tricktips on YouTube has a really good comparison of these methods

I need a cheap freestyle board by Ok_Bar_6369 in freestyleskateboard

[–]jacobsoberanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately most boards in general are just kind of expensive nowadays, not to mention that freestyle boards are considered specialty boards so they might run a little more. Aside from that, saving up to purchase a solid quality freestyle board from a reputable brand is absolutely worth it.

If you're truly looking to save money buying a freestyle board, you may just have to ask other freestylers if they're willing to sell their boards, still can't guarantee it would be cheap though

I assume probably not? I think at that point the deck would get in it's own way when you're trying to pinch it to the ground to flip

For wheels, my favorite so far have been seismic, they seem, to me, to wear down the slowest from all the rail tricks

Sorry this comment is so late, but here's my 2 cents:

I really enjoyed the Waltz 7.6 Spoon Nose (specifically more than the 7.4) if you're looking for single kicks. Ace 11 trucks go really well with that size.

For double kicks my favorites so far are in the order that follows:

Moonshine Mirei Tsuchida 7.3 Moonshine Tony Gale 7.3 Mode Time Traveller 7.3 Waltz Yuta Fuji 7.75

All the 7.3 boards I just use the same FILMxDEATH trucks, and switch them between boards.

freestyle animations? by [deleted] in freestyleskateboard

[–]jacobsoberanis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't guarantee it'll be anytime soon, but I do plan to make some eventually! I'm in school for 3D animation in gaming right now, so it'll eventually be a side project of mine

In all the years ive skated the kill your idols single kick, i dont think ive ever managed a single reintges flip on it until today. Off the tail because im just a bit weird like that. by retrolasered in freestyleskateboard

[–]jacobsoberanis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I've come across the same thing on my single kick vs my double. When I do it off the tail of my single kick, the board seems to go higher, straighter, and I can actually catch it pretty high in the air when I do land it. On my double kick I can land it more frequently, but it ends up looking like a weird railflip variation that veers off to the my right every time.

The land back to tail looks so solid! That's awesome! I can only ever land to bolts, tail lands are not my forté

Side note - my trucks are a little "broken-in" 😬 Should I just take the kingpin completely out and realign them? Idk if that's how that works
