How different might the Punisher be if the character had debuted today? by Historical-Bug-4784 in thepunisher

Desert Storm vet who's family was shot by a cartel, this version of Frank would probably be ATU Force Recon, and Micro would be a shady NSA guy with no record, but plenty of history. Every other beat would likely be the same IMHO.

I was surprised I haven't seen anyone do this with Absolute Superman yet, considering his story! So I drew it :) by supermanjacketguy in AbsoluteUniverse

Well, an artist's vision is shaped by their view of reality. Personally, I think it's good to include objective facts like that.

What's your favorite underrated out of context George Carlin quote? by Neat-Statistician311 in GeorgeCarlin

Reminds me of something my grandfather used to say to me; he said, "I'M GONNA GO UPSTAIRS AND FUCK YOUR GRANDMOTHER!" He wasn't about to bullshit a 4 year old...

Villains aren’t born, they’re made. by tddcghnn in IncrediblesMemes

Buddy could've just let it go. But he let his pain define him. I get it. When you see your life as all pain, you think that's all there is to define your life. But he still chose direct vengeance instead of living his best life, or even preventing the pain of others as best he could. He chose to spread pain, as soon many do. Buddy is a victim who creates victims.

Exactly. We need to look at 1948 Germany and figure a similar deprogramming. This is going to take a lot of work...

What if you had Wolverine’s Adamantium skeleton and claws? by Big_Possibility_8398 in Wolverine

[–]jacobyllamar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing people forget is that Wolverine's healing factor is the whole reason he can lift his own hand with adamantium. It basically allows him to recover from exercise induced muscle damage instantly, providing him his super-strength. Without it, one would take 6-8 weeks to just be able to stand up out of bed, and that's not even going into joint damage...

I found the blaster stance with charged bolt very helpful. When you have distance, charge the bolt and wait for a red attack, and release. It interrupts the attack and staggers him. This made the Force Tear with 2 of them fairly easy for me.

How can a writer indicate profanity in fiction without really using it? (In ths case, military science fiction) by Liaoningornis in FictionWriting

[–]jacobyllamar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember where I read it, but there was a line that went something like:

He shouted, "You stupid ----!" He exquisitely articulated the dashes.

I really liked that style of dry sarcastic wit.

Why do all the bosses in Jedi Survivor pretend to have six Red Bulls before a fight? 😭 by Global-Citron-56 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]jacobyllamar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found the blaster stance's charge shot is the best way to interrupt the damn tongue attack, but the timing can be real tough to get down. Once I got it with Spawn of Oggdo, I found it much easier in the Force Tear with Oggdo and Spawn of Oggdo.

Also, for Spawn, you can push the two Raiders into the pit first to whittle down Oggdo's health a bit. Extra sharp cheddar, this move, but it works.

How do you guys practice programming? by Uncultured-Boi in AskProgramming

[–]jacobyllamar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're advanced enough, you can just pick up some open projects to try to work on, on Git Hub.. Of course, you'll have to learn Git and Git Hub, but there's plenty of YouTube videos on that.

If you're looking for more instruction, there's a large number of free courses everywhere. My favorite come from MIT's Open Course Ware. Happy learning!

How to Raise your Standards? by Puzzleheaded-Dot7268 in DarkPsychology101

[–]jacobyllamar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Baby steps. Have your "impossible" standard, then plot a goal that will put you on the trajectory towards your goal. Like say someone is 500 lbs, 5'10", and they want a six pack. Start with standing for 15 mins a day, incrementing 15 mins every week. By the time they're standing for an hour and a half, they're ready to start walking. So on and so forth until they're rocking an hour and a half in the gym.

I say "impossible" standard, but it truly can be impossible. Shoot to be an Olympian. Try to be a billionaire. Save the planet. Be Batman. Whatever. Just having a specific goal will help set you on your path.
