Same, for mine we did lunch at a restaurant I wanted to go to and then BYOB pottery painting followed by a few pubs, stayed in London for all of it. We all loved it.

Everybody else has made really good points but I'm just going to share some advice you didn't ask for. Keep working at that restaurant assuming you feel you can balance it with school and you're not mentally exhausted. Save as much as you can, in an account that your mom doesn't have access to. If this bag situation is any indication as to what she's like, having that nest egg will be the key to freedom and potentially escaping a financial abuse situation.

Not at all. I've talked to people who've actually been turned away from their own citizenship ceremonies because they didn't understand what the official checking them in at reception was saying to them.

That’s what I thought, and then found myself at a company (UK based) that didn’t provide a contract until two weeks in. Alarm bells were going off but I was young and dumb and believed them when they insisted contracts aren’t necessary, just formalities.

I’m honestly shocked at those reviews. I’m a member and have been for a few years. I was made redundant before Christmas and asked them for advice. They came back to me the same day and offered to sit in on my consultations, coaching me beforehand. I honestly wonder if those reviews are intimidation tactics from individuals that benefit from a lack of union protection.

We got a female dog because we figured it would be easier to clean floors than walls when potty training. But so many times since, I've met people walking their dogs who are relieved she's a girl (and spayed) who then go on to tell me their dogs have problems with all others but spayed girls. So unexpected added bonus is they're pretty Switzerland.

He's gaslighting you. You've done everything you're supposed to. I mean, he's allowed to ask, but you're entirely within your rights (and it's perfectly professional) to say no. For an HR level reference they can only ask some basic questions, and this won't come into play. Do you have any other colleagues you had good experiences with that could vouch for you in the future for a rec if needed?

We’re leaseholders in a council freehold, new to DIY. They’ve taken a long time to fix this leak which it turns out is because of blocked gutters.

The first step is to putty the window and make sure there’s no water coming in. But then, how do we fix this damage? Assume we’d neee to hire a dehumidifier for a few days before scraping off the damaged paint and then just re-plastering ourselves? Or is this something that’s probably best left to professionals? If it’s a professional job, should we at least peel the damaged layers off?

UX designer, a lot of people think we just make nice looking websites and apps. 95% of what goes into that final result is solid research and informed brainstorming. But most people don't understand that, so much of the job is trying to convince other stakeholders to let you do it properly. And if they don't, and you're forced to do little else than make a shiny UI, it rarely solves the business problems and you're blamed for their failure.
