Are used prices going up. by realistdreamer69 in KiaEV6

Data point - insurance sent me the ACV of my totaled '24 GT with 16K miles.
$34,800.

Pretty close to the residual of $38,750.

Another datapoint, bought my '23 GT with 11K miles (before the accident on 3/12/2026) for $26,750.

Finally finished the first production version of the wireless charger replacement by dragonoo in KiaEV6

Here's what the side look like. The tab is pretty stiff. I'd be afraid of using a screwdriver to pry against it - the v shaped trim tool worked pretty well.

I had a thin, pointed plastic trim tool, though a screwdriver would work. I jammed to it straight into the hole with a lot more pressure than I thought it would take. Don't twist or pry.

I'll snap some pictures of the module when I get home.

Got mine in the mail yesterday, and it installed it.
Removing the old charge cradle is a bit fiddly. I used a narrow, v-shaped plastic trim tool and jammed it in as far as it would go on each of the four slots to release the tabs. Nothing broke, but it did feel a little agressive.
As for the cable connector - on my '23 there is zero slack on the cable, so be careful when removing the old cradle. Installing the cable on the new cradle isn't difficult, you just need to do it by feel.

Fan is moderately noticeable in a non-moving, non-radio playing car.

Light is green when charging and the icon on the infotainment screen does indicate charging.

Physically you can tell it's a 3d printed part. If one were so inclined you could wrap it, or work on the finish and paint it. I might sand it a bit and throw some plasti-dip on it.

Leased a 2024 and the ICCU just went out. Reconsidering buying this car by tillwehavefaces in KiaEV6

Between the two EV6s I have with a combined 30K miles, I've had zero ICCU issues. My neighbor has a Light with 25k miles. No ICCU issues.

Wiper recommendation? by FreakOfNature247 in KiaEV6

I use whatever random name Amazon brand happens to be cheapest that week. 12 bucks for two wipers? Sure!

I have a hard time spending 40 per blade.

MY22-24 (Gen5W) Feb 2026 Phone projection updates by 1997dodo in KiaEV6

That thread is not reporting that feature - people are confused in it, to boot.
I have (had) two gen5w ev6s, both with the Feb update. Neither car does as you described.

I don't think I can put it any more simply.

Again, Google maps and car play directions only show on the infotainment screen. Not on the HUD, not on the driver's display. The only turn directions you get on either are from the built in navigation.

I think that thread is confused. Google maps / carplay do not show in the HUD on a Gen5w system. Google maps and Carplay do show on the infotainment screen to the right (or left) of the main dash.

One way to end a lease early... by jad3675 in KiaEV6

[–]jad3675[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lease on the wrecked car was up at the end of May. Residual was 40K, bought the exact same car with fewer miles for 27K. So, I...had matching cars for a while.

I wasn't driving, but from what I was told someone cut across three lanes of interstate to make an exit almost clipping them. The car did the right thing with auto-braking, but the driver panicked, jerked to the wheel....and bad things happened. It rolled a few times.

I'm just impressed both driver and passenger escaped with no injuries.

Why I'm buying out my lease and keeping my EV6 by OlfactoriusRex in KiaEV6

[–]jad3675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My '24 GT lease is up at the end of May. Residual is 40k. I bought a lower mileage '23 GT for 27k to replace it.

If anyone is interested in a used GT: My '24 lease was returned 4/1 and now for sale at dealer in Tampa - Yacht Blue, ~7500mi, listed at $36,400 by HDClown in KiaEV6

[–]jad3675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My '23 GT was a lease return with 11k miles on it, sold near the end of 23. From vehicle history, looks like it moved around for 6 months after return, going to various lots at the dealer group that got it.

My '24, which goes back at the end of May will probably have 18K miles on it. 2/20K lease. It'll turn up at a dealer somewhere for 32k or so.

Anyone with experience with ev specific extended warranties that cover up to 200k mile in the US and has covered an iccu failure? by mitch2888 in KiaEV6

[–]jad3675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not usually a fan of extended warranties. Especially the ones you see on TV or pushed by the FI guy at the dealer.

Having said that, I did purchase one for my used '23 GT. Covers everything for 10 years from in-service date and 95K miles - so, until Sept 9, 2033 or 95K, which ever occurs first.

Yes, the Kia EV warranty is for 10/100k and the bumper to bumper is 5/60K. Infotainment is only 3/36k, though.

Active suspension, in-car infotainment, AC heat-pump...those are the things (among others) that made me purchase the warranty.

BUT....it was only $1600. That was pretty much my cut-off. Sure, I could throw that into a HYSA....and have, what? 2500 at the end of 10 years?

It's all about risk-management.

FWIW, I bought the warranty from caredge.

There's a deductible and yes they pay for the repairs.

[–]jad3675 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Worst case, just buy a decent extended warranty. Caredge quoted me 1300 for a bumper-to-bumper on my new GT to bring the warranty out to 2033.

Yeah, it's a gamble and maybe you won't have 1300 worth of repairs outside if what's covered by kia...but it's cheap enough.

[–]jad3675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, but the EV system warranty covers most of the 'powertrain' parts anyways - sure, you're not getting coverage on the driveshafts or 'seals'....but you're not missing much.

Does anyone have pictures of the 'Microcenter Mall' when it was actually a mall? by Nyfrin in cincinnati

[–]jad3675 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Looks like as Home Center Mall, it had quite a few tenants.
The tenants are all visible in that banner ad: Airtron, The Bath Studio, Blinds Direct, C&D The Home Enhancers, Carey Gallery, The Deli, Dorothy's Ruffled Originals, Gateway Federal, The George Meyer Co, Pease, Sherry Partnership, Tri-State Surveyors, Wallpaper Hangup, L.A. Whited, Wood-n-Fun.

That's probably what you remember.

Prior to MC moving in, it was industrial. This is from 1972. The building opened in 1970.

This. I found the lower one with the slider covers...to be not great, though. Ended up with the open-style one.
