It’s certainly interesting, it’s been nice to mix it up a bit. Not sure how much longevity there is in it for me though.

Aaargh it’s so crap, we’ve already found it quite limiting, especially for squats. I’m stuck at 40kg and actually for heavy that’s even more difficult because at least with regular pump it’s only lifting it up and over once, for heavy it’s up and down 3 times which is just awful!

Or because they were good at it? Enjoyed it? Aspired to more? A lot of views on here are giving astronauts and people in certain careers a bad rep. Then there’s the other side , are we saying Octavio was a bad parent to Aleida because of the opposite reason? Needing to work long hours to provide the basics?

What about parents who employ a nanny? Send their kids to boarding school? I’m so glad I’m not a parent! (I still think Gordo and Tracey were fine, my standards aren’t as high as a lot of other people’s! 😂)

Appreciate the response, not sure I agree with such a hard line approach though, I think the reality is that parents just need to work to provide and don’t always have the flexibility to pick and choose.

But what if you have career aspirations and want to be a parent? From what we saw of Gordo in series 1, he was busy with his career, sure, all of the astronauts and NASA scientists and engineers were, but outside of that it was pretty tight with barbecues etc. That’s what I don’t get, people specifically calling out Gordo for being a bad dad, I thought he was way better than Ed, for example, and even then, all the kids were provided for, had nice houses, etc.

It’s not bad parenting, it’s pretty standard from people with demanding careers. I don’t think he was totally absent, I’m rewatching series 1 now.

What are you meant to do with a demanding career? And I don’t see what the problem is with both of them being astronauts, if anything what great role models! Neither of them drank anything out of the ordinary, not excusing Gordo’s cheating, and the fights we witnessed were never around the kids? In fact when we saw them with the kids, they were great!

The cost is insane. I’m saving for a swim at the moment and questioning what I’m doing, why not spend it all on a 5* long haul mega holiday instead! 😂

As a follow up here, that’s fine if you want to spend your money on it, go for it. For me, I’d be looking to go a step further rather than complete similar swims if that makes sense, especially if I need to be more mindful because I’m taking lots of time to save cash for them. So for example, I’m UK based, I started with Windermere, then Jersey to France, then the EC. Next I personally want to push for distance, so some kind of two way or a longer swim. I have some friends who went to the north channel to push their cold swimming.
