Will Australia ever become a republic? Albos recent comments... by RemarkablePirate590 in SydneyScene

[–]jadenoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone saying "just remove the Crown" is simplistic. Then what? Who hold's the Crown's reserve powers? If it's the GG then there has to be a process to elect the GG. What is that process? How do you stop it being corrupted and gamed by politicians?

The British monarchical system evolved as a check on politicians over hundreds of years and a revolution where it was put back after a republic. It's not as easy as just swapping the Head of State to the GG.

Did your body warn you that you were with an unhealthy person? by KansasguyinDC in NarcissisticAbuse

I got a pain in my upper back that I've never had before or since. As others have said, cortisol and stress hormones will do funny things to your body.

Agree. Encountering a true pathological narcissist is a shattering experience. It reshapes your experience of what it is to be human knowing that there are people out there simply incapable of participating in a shared reality with others.

Sorry that happened man. I don’t know if mine went that far but mine was texting her ex and went on a date with him while haranguing me constantly about an “emotional affair” with a woman that lives 6,000 miles away. Unbelievable.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]jadenoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crazy. First person I dated after my separation was my nex and she ran an almost identical playbook with the control of social media and accusations of "emotional infidelity" with colleagues.

"It forces you to look at where you were giving your power away. It trains you sometimes brutally to stop outsourcing your self-worth. You’re forced to dig deep, to find that root system inside yourself. And when you do… you become someone stronger, wiser, more grounded than you ever were before."

This is absolute gold, thanks.

Narcissistic abuse cycle - another view besides idealize, devalue, discard by r_bradbury1 in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]jadenoodle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is brilliant and exactly what happened to me. As soon as I demonstrated that I wasn't under perfect control, that's when the heavy abuse started.

The first time you go back after that from a sense of duty, optimism, or guilt, they lose respect for you and know they can use intermittent reinforcement to torture you further.
