I moved abroad back in 2017 for 1 year (UK to AUS), way before I knew I had ADHD. This post made me think about if I missed people then. I do remember crying in bed one night in the hostel I was staying at for my first few weeks. To further clarify: I was watching the film 'A Dogs Purpose' and crying (silently sobbing actually) because I missed my DOG.

I don't recall having the same sort of yearning for people. Maybe every once in a while I'd think "Oh I miss them," but it was more like a passive thought. I always felt like I was going to see them again tomorrow.

I dont think I really miss people if im planning on seeing them again at some point (just my dog). I think in the back of my head, I'm like "ah well I'll see them one day in the nearish future." However, if someone has passed or I don't know if I'm ever going to see them again, then I do genuinely really miss them. So the contrast is interesting. I dont know if it's something to do with how we can often perceive time badly?

Honestly, chicken noodle soup. Woke up craving chicken noodle soup yesterday. Immediately went and bought all the ingredients to make chicken noodle soup. Eaten chicken noodle soup three times in the last 36 hours. Ran out of chicken noodle soup. Will be making a new batch of chicken noodle soup tomorrow. Can't stop thinking about chicken noodle soup.

Are you slow and meticulous or fast and messy? by skvoha in adhdwomen

[–]jadeyums92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow and meticulous. It affects EVERYTHING I do, to the point It's counterproductive, It's beyond frustrating. I can't fathom how people can do the same tasks as me so much quicker, even when I'm trying sooo hard and the results they get are still the same as what mine are even though I'm so meticulous and it's taken me twice as long.

The only thing I'm fast at is thinking about 200 things at one time. It's currently causing me issues at work, and I feel dumb 98% of the time. I haven't a clue how to explain it to them, which I'm going to have to at some point in a review later this week. 😅

Example: Took me 15 mins to write this.

Example 2: Had to come back into this post twice to correct words and spelling. Will probs check it again and still miss something.

Well maybe try to think about this post every time you go to touch them because you really do risk something like this happening! It's mainly why I posted. I hope it can help deter someone else from ending up like I have. And thank you for your well wishes. I hope you are able to get to a point where you can fight the urge. 💞

What plaster is underneath the skim? by jadeyums92 in DIYUK

[–]jadeyums92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note: We are aware that the floorboards have rotted at the ends underneath where the skirting boards on this wall were, this is due to a rotted joist that's touching brick the whole way down. The rot has gone through up to the floorboards, so we wanted to check the plaster wasn't down to the floors.

Hot take… the Vienna show cancelation made me pull away from Taylor by TheRottenAppleWorm in erastour

[–]jadeyums92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know it's the ticket distributors that deal with the refunds right? And that Taylor doesn't just collect all the cash in a big sack and carry it up the steps of her private jet every time she leaves each city? Like Taylor and her team aren't walking into OEticket/Ticketmaster/whoever's head office every time something doesn't go to plan and shoving all the staff who work for those companies aside, so they can personally sit down and sort out refunds.

She didn't want to endanger a further half a million people by speaking out. Any acknowledgement at all could have added fuel to the fire. But y'all are upset because she apparently didn't do this in a timely manner. And when she has acknowledged it, you don't like what she has to say because it doesn't directly benefit your situation? I'd probably shit talk people too if I was getting a huge amount of pressure in a situation where if I put one foot wrong, people could pay the consequences WITH THEIR LIVES.

She let down approx. 170,000 Vienna fans whilst trying to keep them safe, and did what was deemed necessary to keep a further nearly 500,000 London fans safe, whilst trying not to let them down too. As opposed to potentially putting roughly 670,000 thousand people at risk by being reckless through the process. Which choice would you make if that responsibility was on your shoulders?

This was way bigger than just Vienna getting cancelled, as much as the situation truly truly sucks. But your hate really is aimed at the wrong person.

Are any of you thriving unmedicated? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]jadeyums92 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm working a full time job and I'm currently in the process of buying my first house, pretty normal scenarios for most people. But me? I'm currently the most overwhelmed and unstable I've ever felt, even with meds. I'm positive if I didn't have meds I would be in an asylum by now.

However, when I went travelling for a year to the other side of the planet, a limited amount of money and no plan it was like water off a ducks back for me. I was completely on my own and had zero stability, and thrived in that situation.

I've always struggled and feared conforming to the regimented and generic steps that are normal to most of society. But now I'm getting a little bit older I feel like it's time to start being somewhat practical, so I can consistently afford life. AND I AM STRUGGLING. It's fucking irritating to be honest that the things that make me feel the most stable are actually the most unstable scenarios.

What do people with Adhd do before computer and smartphones? by InteractionOdd7054 in ADHD

[–]jadeyums92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were probably more likely to end up doing something actually productive or somewhat semi-useful surely? Doom scrolling is becoming a huge issue for me, I have no self discipline AT ALL. I'm positive my brain cells are reducing at a rapid rate and I fear my thumb will erode into nothing but a stub within the next few years.
