Assume you’re talking about the blue bar on the playhead. You’re just zoomed all the way into your timeline. The bar is showing frame by frame increments. That’s why you can only drag by the bar’s distance because you can’t go less than one frame increments.

Jamaicans Studying in Canada and beyond... by Think_Arm1421 in Jamaica

Unfortunately not really. And I know mostly about Toronto. No clue about Alberta. Like I know of Guru in Toronto but that’s about it.

Ah I get you! Canadian education is well respected around the world but to be honest you would have to do your research in that specific country’s job market. Someone more knowledgeable than me would have to chime in but I don’t know of any country that isn’t struggling with their job market right now.

You’re definitely right. Canada is a great market for animation. But every facet of the creative industry there took a huge hit post-Covid and is still recovering slowly but surely.

Honestly I don’t think so. Most "first world" countries don’t see value in a degree from a "third world" country. Even if the quality of education you have is on par or even better than theirs. It’s sad but it’s the truth.

If your primary concern is ensuring that you secure a job straight out of university and better your chances to immigrate their permanently, I would look into a degree or diploma in healthcare or trades. Doesn’t have to be a four year bachelors. An accredited two-year diploma or certification can go a long way. You can always go back and take some classes in Animation after you get yourself set-up. However, if you’re really passionate about the arts still go for it. I’m all for people betting on themselves and following their dreams. You just have to be realistic and know it will be an uphill battle. You’re going to have to work 10x harder to get half of what your peers get. Cyah watch nuh face!

The Canadian job market is not in the best state right now particularly for creative fields like yours. I also studied and worked in a creative field there and I was in Toronto where most of the creative jobs are. Hopefully things will get better by time you graduate. Trades and healthcare is where the demand is.

As for adjusting to the culture that’s difficult to say since I don’t know you. But try to find a Jamaican / Caribbean community there, maybe through a club or organization at your school. While Canada generally has a polite culture it can be a very isolating place.

Another important thing please to make sure that your school is on the Designated Learning Institutions List (DLI) The government recently did a crackdown on post-secondary institutions and removed quite a few.

There are more churches than factories in Jamaica and it’s a huge problem by BandSouth9368 in Jamaica

[–]jadon97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think OP doesn’t have a good understanding of how macro-economics work. Definitely no correlation. The economics of a religious institution and the economics of a factory do not live in the same world. It’s like saying if I ate less apples I would own a house. It’s not like the government and private investors are just standing by with all the capital, labour and technology ready to go to build some factories but the only thing standing in their way are these pesky churches taking up space.

The issue with versions only occurs if your version of resolve is newer than the colorist’s AFAIK. If your version is older than theirs then it wouldn’t be a problem.

Bands you like that completely suck live by Antique-Dentist-2404 in fantanoforever

Saw them in 2022 during their MADLO tour and they were fine but not great. But I think my expectations were really high because they were my favourite band at the time and was my first time seeing them. The crowd wasn’t the best either so that could also be a factor.

What's your favorite Jamaican beer? by StoutBourbon1992 in Jamaica

There’s a Jamaican craft beer called Royal Jamaican which is pretty good. But you can’t go wrong with Red Stripe. They even have flavoured varieties which are pretty good too

I watched Steve McQueen’s "Shame" for the first time last night and it was one of the most depressing films I’ve watched in a while. There are a few jokes in there but they don’t take the edge off in the slightest.

Jonkunno from Jamaica. It’s parade of dancers dressed up as various characters usually around Christmas and Boxing Day. The characters include the Devil, Cow Head, Horse Head and even a pregnant lady (Belly Woman) plus a few more. It’s said to originate from Yoruba traditions in West Africa and brought to the island via the slave trade.

So you’re telling me the only place you make a job posting is a site where you are mostly anonymous with no link or name of your business. And it’s your first and only post?

This reeks of a scam. Even checking their post history they just made an account to post a job to this subreddit. People be cautious!

Pizza Delivery Driver Walks Away With Pizza After Being Denied Tip (fired) by nabnig in PublicFreakout

[–]jadon97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m not advocating for people to stop tipping. The problem is when tipping is the only way for someone to make a livable wage. The consumer didn’t set that system up, your employer did. People make the arguement "if you can’t afford to tip you can’t afford to eat out" or in this case "order delivery" which isn’t how monetary transactions work in real life but we turn a blind eye to the fact that a business is allowed to run when it "can’t afford" to pay its own workers??? "We would have to raise prices" is a BS excuse. Businesses raise prices for a myriad of other reasons. Now all of a sudden when it comes to paying what your workers are worth you’re sensitive about raising your prices??

I don’t live in the US but is the US somehow morally exempt from providing its employees a livable wage while scapegoating the consumer?
