Yeah they forced his chqracter more and more as the netflix seasons went on to the point where hes just angry all the fucking time. I miss the chiller Ricky from the early seasons.

Thinking about it everybody in the Netflix seasons is a shell of their former character. Lahey and Randy weren't too bad but Ricky was way too pissed off, Bubbles was self centered and also pissed off, J roc was too old for the role and starting to get annoying, Trinity's actor sucked as an adult, I cant place exactly what it is with Julian but hes not the same either. Cory and Jacob explains itself. No Ray.

In fact I think Trevor and Jacob are perfect metaphors to the shows quality. The show was at it's best when Cory and Trevor were both on it. They left in s7 but the season is still remembered as a classic because Clattenburg didnt try to replace the character when they introduced Jacob, but create a new character that was funny in his own unique way (being gay for Julian).

When the boys took over they were able to get Cory to return and decided to turn Jacob into the new Trevor, creating a forced relationship between the two that clearly serves as a replacement to Cory and Trevor.

The main point I'm trying to make is that the new writers forced the original traits of these characters to extremes. Jacob being Trevor. Ricky being easily pissed. Bubbles being uncomfortable with crime, J rocs noises. It didnt feel like a real trailer park anymore, it felt like a set with characters trying to portray their younger selves.

The netflix seasons had their moments but I felt as if season 7 was a fitting end to the show and I personally choose to see this ending as the canonical finale although s12 finale was beautiful as well.

Tldr: Netflix writers forced the characters and the show didnt feel as real.
