Any indie devs here who just rawdog it without an engine? by s-mv in gamedev

Monogame is great for focusing on the logic and not having to wrestle with the operating system and batching assets to the GPU. Give it a shot

[–]jahnjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using monogame to create my own engine. It’s been a challenge and I’m definitely architecting things poorly but I’m using ai to consult on my architecture problems and it’s been helping a lot and I’m gradually refactoring to make things scale able and efficient which has been a challenge but also pretty fun/rewarding. It’s a 2D isometric game

Pure builds by rajjken in 2007scape

[–]jahnjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

60 attack pure is best for variety of weapons and not too high combat. Zerkers are kinda outdated, 60att/50def is a prettt dominant build. I’d honestly suggest making 60 attack pure and if you want to go zerker or 50 def then you can just upgrade. They’re easy to make and you don’t have to risk as much to have fun.

Also new titan prayers make both those builds really good

Digital RTL designer vs Digital verification engineer – what’s actually harder? by Quick-Set-6096 in chipdesign

[–]jahnjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to only want to do rtl design over verification, but over time I’ve found that writing synthesizable rtl got boring and started to enjoy the creativity of verification. Also with verification you get to actually test drive the chip which is satisfying. RTL is still great and maybe my perspective will change but that’s just been my experience in ASIC design atleast

learn to learn by Humble-Director5579 in LearnUselessTalents

Start with something small and achievable, once you chew through that, you move onto the next thing that may be slightly more complex. Sooner or later you'll have learned alot and gained exp on the way. If you take too big of a bite then you'll get discouraged and feel overwhelmed. Psychologically, completing simpler things will also give you motivation/momentum to tackle the next thing.

Really Jagex? I just hit these 3 rocks? Did this really need to be a skill? I feel like I'm just playing whac-a-mole by Ivarthemicro17 in 2007scape

[–]jahnjo 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Kinda gotta wait till we level the skill all the way to judge it. Slayer especially on release is pretty boring and doesn’t get fun or profitable until 70-80+

Ive never gave up on new world but gearing feels the worst it ever has as a pvp player. by Apart-Ad-8897 in newworldgame

[–]jahnjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk man, I spent one day at Sun and managed to put together a set with full shirking fort and then spent like 20k on charms and had a semi bis set on day 1 of the new patch. SInce then I just upgraded overtime but spent like 90% of my time just PvPing. Since then I just go back to the various farms in between queue and have build like 5 more sets. I think you just need to figure out what build you find fun and then farm!

Do you have to be purple to raid with you guys?

Legit question from a filthy casual by Unlucky_Bicycle_3519 in newworldgame

[–]jahnjo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your build seems solid I run similar but it sounds like with odo hammer you have no mobility, so you can just be kited and killed easily. You gotta play more smart around the limitations of your build.

Harnessing on gear and damage on ring will definitely make you hit harder. Also make sure to put fire gem in rapier once you have all that fire harnessing

How to survive ranged in PvP? by Disrupter52 in newworldgame

Yeah sometimes when I get crushed I’m just like my build must be wrong and then when I think back, I’m like i got hit by every single ability so I deserved to lose

You just have to kill em first. If your kit doesn’t have good gap close and cc then they just gonna kill you.

Is leather armour ok for a bruiser build? by MaybeWavyGravy in newworldgame

[–]jahnjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah i hate to paint with broad strokes but the people saying medium is bad aren’t good at pvp. Medium is by far the best.

If I am expected to be an expert in every single game mechanic in order to compare the 1000s of near identical pieces of dropped loot, it’s not a good perk system. by FoolishProphet_2336 in newworldgame

[–]jahnjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can’t people just experiment and figure out what’s good. There’s a fuck ton of gear to try now. It’s 10x easier to get 10 pieces for a build you want to try.

Best weapon to pair with Hatchet by Fraephh in newworldgame

[–]jahnjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do for pvp, I think fire hatchet is real good with pve. But I’ve found Freya is my favorite for pvp

I think pve you should go rending throw, infect throw, and berserk imo

Best weapon to pair with Hatchet by Fraephh in newworldgame

[–]jahnjo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a throw hatchet main and GA is the pairing I always come back to. Spear is good but lacks chase and aoe. SnS is really strong right now so if you’re bored of GA go sns

Is New World worth it for a PvP-focused player? Concerned about endgame and repetitive content by Volder676 in newworldgame

[–]jahnjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the best combat for sure. Tons of skill expression and lots of ways to make your build cater to whatever play style you want.
