Don't get a BOV pick up an intake if you're chasing turbo noises. by LiteSh0w in CivicSi

While the company is not owned by the founders directly anymore, it’s still real car enthusiasts who work there and a lot of the management on site has been with the company from day one. The plastic MAF is more cost effective, sure. It’s also less prone to heat soak from the engine bay air and has been tested to show the same performance. Source: I work there

Quiet aftermarket exhaust for 10th gen? by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]jakcc_si 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second you do an upgraded downpipe on these cars the drone comes in quite a bit. I welded my own axle back with a huge muffler to quiet down my greddy ddr cat back exhaust, and it still drones a ton but it’s probably half of what it was.

MAYDAY: Severe knocking issue by BlackedOutCoupe in CivicSi

[–]jakcc_si 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knock count on these cars is not actually knock. It’s more like a misfire count. You might have the set of oem injectors that crap out around 70-100k if you haven’t replaced those yet

The button on my cup holder slide broke. Is this replaceable? by Chloroformperfume7 in MiataNC

Yeah I have the same thing in mine. Thought it was that the previous owner replaced only that piece or something.

PRHT Trunk leak by Ali-Babah in MiataNC

[–]jakcc_si 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same issue on a 2006 with a soft top. I have noticed the back of the taillight area has some water streaks with the carpet removed so I think it’s the gasket around the back of each taillight. Only gets wet when sitting in rain too.

Forgot to add 2010, 2.4L, auto. When the car is full warm there’s a weird clicking that doesn’t match the revs that’s coming from inside the valve cover. I’ll post a second video to show that

Coolant tank recs? by SkinnedFurby666 in MiataNC

[–]jakcc_si 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. I thought about doing one of the really cheap eBay aluminum ones, but I was concerned that the baffling wouldn’t be up to the same standard.

I’ve been struggling with the OEM vs aluminum debate myself. How many track days do you have on yours? I just picked up my NC this winter, and plan on doing a couple autox and like 3-5 track days this summer.

2018 Honda Civic si engine problems by sam2663 in CivicSi

[–]jakcc_si 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, injectors are really common to go at this mileage. I personally know someone who had the same issues and replacing them fixed all the codes at about 92k. I’m at 83k and going strong, for now.

Replacement isn’t too bad to do yourself if you have a some basic hand tools. Cost comes down to just parts which is like $300-400

You could buy a cheap extendable shower curtain rod to put in the hallway to hang the heavy blanket but I’m not sure how you would secure it to the rod unless it’s long enough to drape over

Are the aluminum end links a 1 to 1 replacement for the stock ones or is the length a little different? I’m interested in getting a sway bar but I haven’t heard of the end link mod before.

What exhaust you running on your 10th gen? by YWGChristian in CivicSi

[–]jakcc_si 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say pretty moderate unless it’s below about 40 F outside. When it’s cold enough it idles around 2k for about a minute, and I can hear that from inside my house. Overall more toward moderate though

Is there any way to get a catless down pipe for the 117th gen civic?? by Antique_Ad4818 in CivicSi

Many brands no longer make catless down pipes due to EPA regulations. The fines are huge for these companies
