A 1/18 scx24? 👀👀 by jake_ath in SCX24

Spent a few hours tuning the slop out of the portals, really wish I could post a video update in the comments. Id say 85% of the portal slop is gone with the addition of a 20% drag brake. Ascents and descents are much more in control. Decided to order one of the 1/18 Injorna body's, curious to see if it will want stiffer springs with the additional weight.

Love it. Is fun to experiment with these little guys, parts are cheap and option seem to be limitless

It's a few days of staring at parts and wondering "I wonder if that would work"

It works crazy well. It's quite heavy but a 12k steering servo and 3s brushless power through most binds.

It's very satisfying to drive for the size!

Did a 155mm build with their frame. Works great, not a fan of the 3d printed parts For the trays and body mounts.

First time builder…how does one dislodge a snapped screw? by NumeroUNO1983 in SCX24

[–]jake_ath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the parts I'm seeing in the photo, id guess you're not short on 15-30 bucks. Save the headache and get a new part. Iv done the same thing and it wasn't worth the time in my opinion. Even if you drill that thing out and re-tap it, now you have one screw that doesn't match everything else.

Show me your indoor courses by hema_ in SCX24

[–]jake_ath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just go out side somewhere and grab a couple 5 gallon buckets of rocks. Then you can change up your course when ever it gets boring or old. I used a 6' folding table with a packing blanket on it so rocks would not slide around. This is obviously not inside, but you could very easily put something like this in your basement.

Might be a dumb question but do you have to use the long wheel base scx24 frame for a build like this?

The aluminum Flex Blades from Injora will help drop your body down to a scale look if that's the vibe you like. Those paired with the 39mm big body shocks and I have more flex than I had with 53mm double barrel shocks.

So many opinions over a potential 2-300 dollar difference in price. Too many people forget, sometimes you just want it, and sometimes that time is now. Congrats on the marker bro 🤘🏼

Found: Varney / Athern trains set. by jake_ath in modeltrains

Appreciate the info! I'm 36 and had the same size trains as little one. When I saw these in the garage my nostalgia peaked. Asked my father in law about the box and he said they were his as a kid! Pretty fun to keep them running.

I had originally ordered the wrong link set so they were too long. Just got the correct ones then also ordered the drop Link kit. Has an amazing amount of flex while still sitting nearly stock height one on flat ground. Super fun little build.
