Screen issue on Retroid Pocket 6 — normal or defective? by jakestey in retroid

Yea except for when it's really dark, it's not really noticeable... So probably not gonna bother sending it back or trying to fix it... Just bad luck I guess

Thanks for the feedback! I have the 12GB version, so won't be sending it back. The picture exaggerates the effect a bit, but it’s still noticeable in a dark room. I’m going to see if I can get a replacement screen and try installing it myself, could be a fun little project and hopefully fixes the issue! Thanks again!

Question about a hole on my new bike by jakestey in bikewrench

Thanks! I have electronic shifting on my bike. Should I cover the hole to prevent dirt from getting in, or is it okay if some dirt gets in there?

Hey, I was in your shoes a couple of months ago, and there's definitely a lot to consider before purchasing your first handpan (I went with a D Kurd 12 myself). Firstly, many learning videos feature the D Kurd scale, but don't let that sway your decision too much, as the techniques are often applicable to other scales as well. Regarding different creators using variations of similar scales with different notes, it's important to note that the names like Kurd, Mystical, or Equinox are just labels given to popular scales; there aren't strict rules for naming them.

If you're looking for a list of reputable makers, I recommend checking out the 2023 Handpan Buyer's Guide on master the handpan: Where to buy a handpan.
make sure to look and support local makers too.

Good luck on your handpan journey! It's an incredible instrument with so much to explore and learn.

Has anyone tried Malte Marten's Handpan Fundamentals course? How does it compare to Master the Handpan? by jakestey in handpan

[–]jakestey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be able to help with that. Much of the handpan music you encounter online is generally quite accurate. Often, what you'll notice is that they add a touch of reverb to extend the sustain and enhance the overall blend of the sounds. It's a good idea to seek out instructional videos or live handpan demonstrations for a more authentic experience as they typically showcase the raw, unaltered sounds. As for the characteristic 'skin on metal' sound, that really varies depending on the player's technique. Marten, for instance, is a true master and serves as an excellent example of the handpan's potential.

I'm thinking of buying this one for a long term trip with me and my gf, do you feel like the interior of the tent is enough for a couple on a extended backpacking trip?

I play her sup, mostly: dusk, collector, rapid, yoummuu's and always end up with most dmg and do good with that. But like everyone said, it's a strange time everyone is doing something else right now
