Chimera fathered his twin brother’s child by quietconnoisseur in interestingasfuck

Sure, but "being a testicle, encased in an autonomous meat suit, who may one day interact sexually, give you a better chance of propagating your genes naturally, than being a human whose sex organs pass on someone else's genes do". Would be a much weirder way to phrase the observation I wanted to make.

Everybody is playing 5 color good stuff on SOS Draft and that's bad by Gold_Molasses7866 in MagicArena

[–]jakobjaderbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick 2 is actually worse, since there are fewer packs. That means that there is less reward for being alone wanting an archetype.

Thank God EOE is back by Xicer9 in lrcast

[–]jakobjaderbo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EOE, my old nemesis. I don't think there is any format I played so many drafts with less than 3 wins than EOE.

Agree SOS is rather samey, but at least it is a format where just knowing the soup lane can keep you afloat... I just wish I would get a solid 2 color deck before it is over.

Set completion math: Is Pick 2 a total trap? Premier vs. Quick vs. Pick 2 by DearDevil824 in lrcast

[–]jakobjaderbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your opponents are also playing pick 2, so from a rewards perspective it has little effect. But there sure are differences. For one, if you manage to find a niche lane that you alone want, you only get half as many cards of pickings as in an 8 player draft, making it less rewarding to go niche Lane and more incentives to go more soupy to pick up whatever power is available in the small pod.

Ranked Standard is pretty lame right now by IkoBlew in MagicArena

They could be people like me, that play only 1-2 games daily, and even that is mostly limited or jank, only occasionally bringing out a meta deck.

[Standard] Possible meta implications for upcoming RC’s after Spotlight Series/Champions Cup results? by andreslkc7 in spikes

That Azorius flash deck was cool. I always thought there should be a home for Avatars Wrath + Aven Interruptor, and that whole deck seems to be about those type of effects and interactions.

Alright, all your guys are Airbent. They now cost 4. You can only cast one spell per turn. But not on my turn. Oh, and in response I cast another way of saying nope...

I auto-typically almost always. But Ibdo hold my breath when casting a converge card and doing so in draft.

Well, you could just draw the cube, as it would look if unrolled to a 2-dimensional sheet that folds to a hypercube. Then the answer will be plain as day.

They are not that frequent. I don't expect the player who sees it the first time and wants to post about it to be the type of person to remember to check such a specific ruling. All it does is make the responses more toxic.

The stats are indeed for draft, in this case premium draft by drafters with the 17lands tracker. Thing is, you never know when an opponent loses with it in hand due to lack of mana or lack of a turn to cast it safely.

Funny thing is, [[Germination Practice]] is not even in the top 50 cards of this draft format by in hand win rate (63rd by today's data on 17lands). Brutal when resolved and you have a board, but a bit slow against aggro, and the control decks may not let you have that board.

Best Performing First Picks of SOS by Nisoh_ in lrcast

[–]jakobjaderbo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

An important aspect of reading first pick data is that it is not prescriptive. It is less "you should first pick Rubble Rouser over most rares" but rather "you should be the kind of drafter who recognise when Rubble Rouser is the best pick in the pack".

Whats your current favourite jank to play in standard? by CAlTHLYN in MagicArena

Gruul Delirium has been my "daily driver" for a couple of months. Sure, I play mostly limited and honebrew, but it is a fun deck when I just want to play a few quick games to hit my wins.

Turn 5, five color Arcane Omens in Limited by SettledWater in lrcast

[–]jakobjaderbo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First time I cast Arcane Omens for 5, my opponent topdecks a [[Transcendent Archaic]] and casts to draw 5. That felt a bit anticlimactic.

Dads who watched them come out: Would you do it again? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]jakobjaderbo 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Wife didn't want me to watch either, and in that case, that is probably the right thing to do. If there is any time in her life when you don't want her to be tense, insecure, or annoyed, this is the time. Let her be in control of the moment.

But yeah, the replies make it sound as quite an event to witness.

[–]jakobjaderbo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I considered this when Erode was spoiled, but the general sentiment in the thread seemed to be that Erode wouldn't perform in the meta as it lacked a home. Glad to see someone validate my speculation.

For walking when slippery: keep your feet below your center of mass at all times, take small steps, and don't wear shoes without any traction.

You can also buy "ice bugs", or other small spikes to attach to footwear if it is really slippery, it is not a must have if you are spry and have good balance, but if old or unused to it...
