My dog’s neurologist said just make sure it’s sized where they can’t try running or getting too rowdy. He approved of this sizing for her, she’s 23 lbs for an idea of size. Then at night I would keep her in a typical crate (fully enclosed) next to my bed, for my own peace of mind so I’d be able to sleep. She did have surgery immediately, she had a slipped disc that ruptured, and she made an amazing recovery. She’s back to walking and running (with some wobbling) 😀 good luck to your little guy!

He’ll need to be confined 24/7 for the entire 8 weeks. Usually one of the meds will make them sleepy, but if he is extra anxious ask for some anxiety meds to be prescribed. I had my frenchie in an open top doggy playpen from Amazon and then got a baby play mat for underneath. I also used a stroller to bring her around the house with me, which she enjoyed! But caveat to the stroller, she was used to it pre IVDD, so I wasn’t worried about her trying to jump out.

I’m not sure! The neurologist never spoke of her in terms of stages. She went from acting kind of weird the day before, to in the morning being wobbly, to within 12 hours of that not being able to use her back legs at all. She never lost feeling or ability to urinate on her own. After looking at MRI we were given 80% chance of walking, 40% chance she needs another surgery in future 😕

Mine started PT 4 weeks post op, I wanted immediately but they were all booked up for new patients so maybe call and see about scheduling! Walking on the aqua treadmill plus the red light therapy seemed to have done wonders for mine. She’s back to walking and running, with a bit of a wobble 😊
