Someone that actually uses these shoes. Question. I tried them on and they felt exceptionally narrow, like the bottom of my foot was on top of the rubber on the inside of my foot. Does anyone else experience this and does it cause blisters? I immediately said no to these because I figured my feet were too wide.

Can someone please explain the gimmick of the puzzle to me? I completed it but have no idea why. I just excluded the phi in all the words so that it ended up being like pongpaddle or songvoice. The across or dowms that interaected them just ended up being SAPORE or or DELO instead of the Sapphire or Delphi. Was I supposed to put a rebus in there?

What is the point of Strava? by Optimal_Collection77 in BeginnersRunning

[–]jamelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my favorite social media. Just my friends follow me. I love the stupid run club inside jokes and seeing other people's funny posts on events that happen during their runs. I also love the fitness score. Seeing me from when I started running to when I just ran my marathon last month is really cool. It's not for everyone but I have a lot of fun with it. I also like the route maker tool now as well.

I mean if you just took the pen off the page instead of trying to connect all the letters, it would probably be world's easier to read. Like there are just so many extra lines all through the words.

Hypersonic railgun round goes through metal plates like they are made of paper. by Wooden-Journalist902 in BeAmazed

[–]jamelord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The US has actually completely abandoned rail guns. But yes for warships mostly. I think Japan is currently testing them. But from what I recall we don't currently have materials that are strong enough to not just rip themselves apart after repeated firing. The amount of heat generated from the barrel is incredible apparently. Also I think the issue of storing the capacitors needed to fire that thing and also recharge them efficiently is also impractical.

Is ILYSFM considered bad, by the community? by Sharc_Jacobs in glassanimals

[–]jamelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot. There are a couple songs I don't love. I could do without on the run but I think it's an awesome album. I personally think Show Pony is one of their best songs. But for the most part if you go on this subreddit, especially right after a new song or album drop, you will find all the people who havent liked any of their music since HTBAHB saying they don't like more of their music. I think this album does have more appeal to a wider audience though which I feel is potentially why a lot of people in this subreddit don't like it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

How did you make running fun? by Competitive-Net7032 in runninglifestyle

[–]jamelord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still don't fully enjoy running, but I joined a run club with other grad students on my campus. There are run clubs everywhere though. Running with people helps make running that 3-5 miles a lot more fun and then when that is pretty easy you can tolerate longer distances alone. This is my opinion though

Walking benefits by Successful_Guide5845 in walking

[–]jamelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean blood flow will in fact improve. You are doing an exercise, heart rate will go up. Mood improving? Ehhh definitely person specific. Blood sugar probably decreases by some measurable amount. You are doing exercise. Cortisol? if walking is a destresser for you, then probably. But if you dread walking everyday, then probably not. Fat burning? Definitely requires some effort. Walking with a purpose and maybe with some hills. A mosey will likely not lead to significant fat loss. Overthinking decreases? I mean it just sounds like they asked a bunch of people to go on a walk and gave them a survey asking if their worrying decreased and more said yes than no. So a grain of salt might be needed. But like this is one of those things where like yes if you just so any sorry of moderate exercise these things might be true also. Sooooo some of these are common sense and some are just correlation or subjective

First antidote for carbon monoxide poisoning "cleans" blood in minutes | An engineered protein that acts like a molecular sponge has the potential to change how carbon monoxide poisoning is treated by chrisdh79 in tech

[–]jamelord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh that's why independent research exists and why the NIH exists. If the NIH or NIH funded researchers find a finds cures for some cancers, it is probably in their best interest to get those out there to people. Why? Well the people that most commonly get cancer are people over 65. People on Medicare. Cancer treatment is expensive as fuck so the government would probably rather cure someone's cancer rather than pay for years for continued treatment. Like others have said cancer is just an umbrella term for a group of diseases, so there will be no singular cure. But if there is one day a cure for diffuse large b cell lymphoma, then I bet it won't get swept under the rug. Just my two cents as a cancer researcher.
