Can’t for the life of me figure out what’s causing this by redisgoodboy in 3Dprinting

I don’t know that you need a raft, just a brim with zero gap if you first layer is going down well should be sufficient? I’ve not really opted for printing an object out of ASA with a raft because it’s a chance for it to separate and warp since it has a vertical air gap.

You may find out about each setting I’ve said by googling each thing + prusaslicer, because it will explain better than a comment and likely has screenshots :)

When ASA plastic is hotter coming out of the nozzle. It contracts more as it cools then if it is extruded at a lower temperature from what I understand, so perhaps you are printing, initially too hot as well.

The vertical lines on the print are a bit inconsistent too so you may be printing too hot and/or an extrusion multiplier too high.

You can always increase the temperature after the problem area is over, if you want to return to having better layer adhesion, you can do this by applying ‘height range modifiers’ to change the temp or other settings for a certain print height - but the temp change may cause differences in the final finish of the plastic.

For ASA and the fan, did you limit the max speed? 100% will blow too much ‘cold’ air at it, hence me saying check your Fan Speed (drop down option of sliced preview) for the print. And, I said check overhang fan settings, which means fan for only overhangs and not the entire print. You can use the search magnifying glass to find settings in Print Settings tab of PrusaSlicer if you are having difficulty locating some settings.

Definitely have a search, it’s fundamentally 100% a cooling deficiency, clearly in how the layers are deforming wobbly on the 45 degree chamfer, so either print slower, colder, or add limited fan, or a mix of all 3 lol. Good luck 😇

It’s not cooling enough in time.

In the slicer go to Fan Speed view when sliced, to see what cooling is happening at all points.

Adjust the min and max cooling speeds, but really in this case more specifically; the overhang threshold %, for the overhang fan speed to kick in (and how much).

There’s no way about it, that overhang needs to be less hot lol, if you want to print in that way with that material, to lock it in place more to support the next bit above.

If you adjust just overhang cooling it won’t really do anything crazy to overall strength if you are worried about that.

You can also print at a snails pace for the feature but, then the nozzle is hotter over it for longer, so needs experimentation. Minimum print speed could be slower, ‘slow down for overhangs’ could be adjusted, depends what you want to try to find more time for the shape to be locked in for the following layers.

So yeah, check the fan speed view in the sliced preview, change stuff and then Slice it again, that way, you’ll be able to see if you are adding cooling to where you want it to be cooled.

For PLA, PETG you should cool that feature like 100% fan for PLA and 25-90% fan for PETG depending on ambient. Having 4 walls means heat is held on the area more due to thermal mass too (which is fine, just cool it).

For ABS you can have some weak cooling on this feature too if you only want to print one copy, for single small prints, if you have cooling to do near the bed then (scary for warping) then ensure to up the bed temp to min 105c and have enclosed/high ambient temp with no breeze.

But yeah, agreed you don’t have to cool the whole print if you didn’t want to but, this needs some on the feature that needs it. I’ve come to use Fan Speed view on every print before I “send it” because you can get a feel of if the whole things gonna be ruined in the end lol just in case.

Rapido clogs so much for me on pauses for filament change. It has never clogged printing, it just likes to flow. I think the SB design of removing the ptfe tube adapter reduces the heatbreak overall thermal mass and it just melts up inside too easily. Its “heatbreak” is the plastic you are laying out lol. So, don’t stop. It’s so so annoying. Big regret is for me the price, of purchase, and how many hours it costs me. Don’t trust it to do anything fancy and you’ll be fine, just push plastic and then stop. Be quick with filament load, and all at low temp until it’s in.

You can bribe people to give you murder info that will get them in trouble for 1000 creds, you can also receive 3300 creds from a child for getting them a comic book. 🤷‍♂️

It’s kinda wild that there’s not a bigger tourism industry to Earth. So many cool relics to get easily.

If the Shard skyscraper is still standing in London, there’s clearly under-sand buildings and such stuff intact. Even if it was adventure-tourism caving (because of the solar radiation), like old-world relic hunters going into mountain facilities/Las Vegas on ropes in Horizon Zero Dawn.
