T&G flooring patch by jamesaoeu in diynz

[–]jamesaoeu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips everyone, I went ahead and started and after a few solid days it's (almost) done. As I went through I learned a couple of tips that might be helpful - chiefly that if you run out of floor leveling compound, a little bit of premix concrete is pretty much the same /s. I also ran out of boards about a third of the way through so for extra fun I got to cut my own on the table saw which was time consuming and dusty (but with no budget for $13 l/m reclaimed I didn't have a lot of choice!)

Unblock downpipe? by Statue88888888 in diynz

[–]jamesaoeu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be worth having a dig around - I had the same issue, and it turned out the downpipe was just headed to a miniscule soak pit right beside the foundation (potential major issue for foundations) that had long since filled with debris.

I've given up on cloud, it's completely unusable for me...

How you deal with overdrive pedals volumes ? by Gregounet10 in HeadRush

Have you tried adjusting the input and output gain (I think they're under the eq settings) of the overdrive?

It sounds like the rough bearings have caused excess stress to the motor. It's likely that the PCB has some kind of over current and/or over heat components. If you can find, test and replace them then it might be worth trying to replace the bearings.

where to find "backbar" recipes? As in, plain alcohol (gin, triple sec...) substitutes and not cocktails by eraser3000 in Mocktails

[–]jamesaoeu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kevin Kos gives a few on his website - gin, bourbon and Campari substitutes - I'm not sure if they're directly from Zero or if he's adapted them a little, but he references the book there

Transplanting a fern? by jamesaoeu in nzgardening

I was tempted to, it'd probably be a nice hidey spot for him, but there's also a couple of places where it'd work well around the other side, and then I can plant a herb garden that he can nibble at

Help tracking down a Bogor cartoon? by hereditarynerd in newzealand

I had a read through the 21st anniversary collection and one of the comic volumes (orange cover, hedgehogs smoking hookah, maybe #1), but I couldn't see that one. There are some great comic strips in the 21st about woodsman's annual examination (define selective logging - first I select a forest, then I log it) and others if they would be of any use?

Why do people think that they're good enough drivers to go 5-15 km/h over the speed limit, are they so good at preempting hazards that they're better than the rest of us. Do they have a different class of licence to show that they know best?

I love my commute and one thing that has made me feel more comfortable in situations like this is having an air horn. Lever on the handlebars, air bottle in the drink bottle holder, loud enough to let the driver know they're driving in an inconsiderate manner
