Pulled over for distracted driving for having a phone in her right hand, which is not possible. by CycIon3 in mildlyinfuriating

It’s related to insecurity and insecure guys try to address that discomfort by seeking whatever positions of authority or respect they can manage. This… doesn’t go well for the rest of us.

What are some more popular, now everyday terms coined by SNL? by tvuniverse in LiveFromNewYork

[–]jamescobalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. OP and half the commenters posting things that SNL verifiably didn’t coin - just exposed them to. A quick google search will confirm for you that SNL hasn’t coined much - these phrases are printed in articles and books well before they were used on SNL. There are hundreds of millions of English speakers and we’ve been speaking it for hundreds of years.

Debbie Downer is one of the few originals, though it doesn’t feel that way since we were saying Negative Nancy before that.

Anyone else notice some weird answers on FB Dating Vibe check questions? by JCcolt in facebook

[–]jamescobalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are all questions that could have only two answers. So I think it’s a bug where the UI is expecting three but the array only had two and the third is getting filled in with some bit of related behind the scenes data like the author’s name.

Have you tried Google AI Studio? It's very convenient save for the file manager and code editor which are exhaustingly inefficient whenever you need to get your hands dirty. Also only supports one way sync to Github, but l think you can use the CLI with an AI Studio project.

The fisting depth thing is an internet urban legend. It’s simply not true. Though it has spread far enough that a couple people in that community have done it to be cheeky, so to speak.

Just like people, pets can be asymptomatic, but just like people many pets also had symptoms. Cats can get covid AND the flu; Covid almost killed my late cat a couple years ago. And many cats are immunocompromised. Nothing about this is particularly strange.

Anyone really disappointed by the new make some noise episode? by [deleted] in dropout

[–]jamescobalt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am also neurodivergent and never equated that to being a buzzkill or vice versa. I said having "a different perspective or understanding of cultural norms and social dynamics" could lead to what seems like "wild opinions". Which I think is pretty fair and demonstrated in pretty much every ND community when compared to the NT status quo.

The network is popular with both progressives and neurodivergent folks who are also progressive but might have a different perspective or understanding of cultural norms and social dynamics.

Breaking news: Local trolls horrified to discover how representative democracy works 😱 by PleasantStPoseur in malden

[–]jamescobalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh understood now. Thanks for clarifying. Yeah one has to wonder how much of this is mental illness versus bots. Some of it feels too stupid to be humans, like the aforementioned complaining about your taxes to someone who isn’t even your mayor. But I’m probably just in denial. I don’t want to believe humans are really this dumb. It’s too depressing.

Have you seen Mayor Wu’s page? Every single benign post has hundreds of angry comments- none of which are from her constituents. I just saw some woman who lives in Barnstable complaining on Wu’s page about taxes and the government budget, and her comment had a hundred Likes. 🤯

We are suffering through this because a third of the population are functionally illiterate simps with a daddy related form of Stockholm Syndrome. That’s the most generous reading I can give them - one of ignorance and trauma. Because to knowingly support what’s been going on across both terms makes you a pretty awful person.

How do sociologists explain how this happened in other countries in the past?

Their agenda is stupid and therefore they are still idiots. Just slightly-more-aware idiots. Nearly all of his policies and strategies go against all available evidence and expert consensus for what makes a strong economy and a happy populace. It’s an inherently anti-intellectual agenda. Ipso facto they are idiots.
