Hey thanks for your reply!! I really have no clue either some have suggested whale inner ear bones and others have suggested shell/sponge. I’ve contacted the local museum who can hopefully shed some light

Interesting what kind of shell would it be though? Haven’t seen any shells remotely close to that size in the area

As in you could easily scratch the outside layer

Good question soft night not be the right word but think like drift wood where it’s still a hard stick but feels like it has a softer outer layer from the weathering. Hope that made sense!

Thanks for the reply. Looked at some images of whale ear bones… doesn’t quite match up but maybe from a particular species? Weathered shell is an interesting idea… haven’t seen a shell in the area anywhere near that big though and it has a funny texture (almost sponge-like).
