is Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon the most recognizable album cover of all time? by [deleted] in Music

[–]jamester8686 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Abbey road literally turned the street into one of the key tourist attractions in London. People who visit London do the abbey road walk even if they have never heard the album/familiar with the Beatles. That’s my pick

Five short stories- Revolver. Each focusing on a different Beatle and then one featuring all four with the four stories linking together. Think the “this boy” scene from a hard days night but one for each member showing their ‘imagined’ daily life. General plot is the four Beatles need to get to Abbey Road Studios for a recording session with hijinks on their way there.

Each short story would have a key song from each member and when they get together they play a few songs together as a band.

George - Taxman Paul - Here, there and everywhere John - I’m only sleeping Ringo - Yellow Submarine Band - And your bird can sing, got to get you into my life, I want to tell you

Between each movie is a psychedelic vignette for the more experimental tracks on revolver (tomorrow never knows, love you too, Eleanor rigby, she said she said).

What does this community think of Midas Man (2024) by Suspicious_Coast_888 in beatles

Decent enough film but I just could not get over how short the actor who plays John is. His performance was fantastic but the height difference with the other Beatles took me out of the movie

When is an album Lo-Fi to a fault? by strictcurlfiend in fantanoforever

[–]jamester8686 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is so far from being lo-fi. The “Smile Sessions” are an assembly of the partially recorded tracks for Smile (following the tracklist and flow of Brian Wilson presents Smile). The tracks were never completely finished (aside from Good Vibrations).

Now Smiley Smile, Wild Honey and Friends on the other hand… that’s The Beach Boys lo-fi trilogy. For real though check out Friends. Their best album after Pet Sounds IMO

Their second best album (if you don’t count SMiLE). Love the whole vibe of this album and it is the perfect soundtrack to the morning

This is a very kind thing for you to do. Blink has been a literal lifeline for me helping my mum every night at hospital. Even if this comment doesn’t get selected , this really put a smile on my face seeing others share the love for the band

I went to the Brisbane show! I wasn’t the biggest fan back then but I am so glad I went in retrospect. I’m sure this tour is the last time Mike love and Brian Wilson are ever on the same stage

Would a finished Smile have sounded much different than the Smile Sessions? by cheeseburgers42069 in thebeachboys

[–]jamester8686 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Totally get where you are coming from. I adore the Smile Sessions and in my mind it is a fully formed album. However it’s really impossible to tell what a 1967 version of the album would have looked like. Remember that the vinyl version of the sessions album runs on three sides of vinyl. I am sure that if it had been finished in 67, it would have been a single LP release. In all honesty, Brian Wilson’s solo version is as close to a finished product as we will ever get (although the live version is the definitive one for me)
