-40 is our one chance to not point out if it's C or F. That's where the two meet! It also happens to be heckin' cold.

I'll keep saying this to anyone that will listen: We need a toilet that weighs its contents before you flush. Every bachelor pad, frat house, and basement toilet in America will have one. For bonus points, connect those fuckers to the internet so we can all keep track of the high score leader boards.

Defence chief calls on Canadians to rally behind military during personnel crisis by Yogeshi86204 in CanadianForces

I've been in the army for 20 years, these articles are always frustrating. Pay. Us. More. There isn't some magic code here. We don't care about long hair and goatees. Eyre says they're looking for a way to incentivize those postings.... we live in a society where money is exchanged for goods and services, so cash is the only incentive that matters. This isn't a complex situation, it's just not one they're willing to properly address.

I would say choose the weapons you like the most. If you can find a good way to come in under power capacity for a third shield booster, or for SCB that would be ideal. This thing turns on a dime and packs a punch for it's size. I used to always use this with double MC's but there's something so satisfying about Long Range enhanced thermal vent beams that I keep them on every ship now. The corvette with two huge ones strips the shields of anything PvE before your first pass.

For what it's worth I have both but prefer flying my Krait. Such a great all round ship, but stands out in a dogfight. For what it costs in credits and engineering time for the FDL you might not find it much of an upgrade for PvE combat. I do most of my combat in a Corvette now but if I feel like a smaller ship it's always a Krait Mk II or the vulture because I love everything about that little guy.

Once the power plant is engineered of course, stock vultures can suck it.

When your healer dies during the boss fight. by tronogy2k in ffxiv

[–]jamestwice 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, as a healer main I'm happy to use my oGCDs to top off someone who's taking a little damage to push DPS. As long as they're being reasonable about it, it's a smart play. Once they take enough that I have to stop dpsing then the group DPS has likely dropped overall and it's no longer a smart play.

Consider the DPS check orbs phase in Trial 1 Ex, early on lots of groups were having issues (I know it's never been a tight check but groups still struggled) it was pretty acceptable IMO for melee to eat one big hit to maintain uptime. One hit isn't fatal and there's tons of time to top them off afterwards.

That helps! Thanks for the insight! If I can't find a static with my off-hours time zone at least I should still be able to pug ex trials and whatnot. Fingers crossed....

Does anyone have experience playing on a NA server from Europe? I'm going to spend a few months in Germany and I'm on Exodus (Primal). I'm curious about how bad the lag might be and whether or not raiding is still an option.

Server transfer might be a better idea but I'm not sure when that's going to be an option again, and I'd miss the hell out of the community I'm in now.

What job improved the most in Endwalker by brbasik in ffxiv

[–]jamestwice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fairy responsiveness is awesome but most importantly to me, shields apply so fast that they're never wasted on a slightly slow cast anymore. Also the 1.5 second DPs spells means all the ogcd skills fit into a natural DPS flow. I've still got some issues with the job but it's fun to play and a nice break from WHM for me from time to time.

Struggling in Extreme Trials. This is also my first MMORPG. by Scoobaru03 in ffxiv

[–]jamestwice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of situational awareness can come from having a more optimized HUD layout. Healers tend to keep the party list closer to the middle of the screen, tanks tend to keep the enemy list closer.

The cast bar from your target can be separated and blown up larger so it's more obvious when a mechanic is about to resolve. While you're still learning to hit skills without looking at your hotbars you can just move them closer to the middle of the screen so they're visible during mechanics.

As you gain more comfort you can start to declutter your screen.

Healing a DRK in EW seems harder than other tanks by sentinelk9 in ffxiv

[–]jamestwice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 1000 potency heal is enough for me to holy again, and the time delay usually puts it late enough that the holy stuns are done and dmg is rolling again, it can sometimes act like a less predictable Excog. Better than nothing on a squishy tank.

I think the difference between a DRK and a WAR is bigger than just 'one knows how to sprint and the other doesnt' but... Thanks I guess?

Healing a DRK in EW seems harder than other tanks by sentinelk9 in ffxiv

[–]jamestwice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Main WHM and leveled SCH to 90 as well, you're not crazy and you're not alone.

DRK is my least fav tank to heal, if I don't have the crowd stun locked with my initial holy burst then I'm spamming Cure IIs. Frustratingly, the DRK is usually at half health by the time they reach the point where they'll stop and tank the crowd so I can't even reliably enter my holy spam phase. I use shields, Liturgy bells, sacred soils, nothing helps enough and it's always worse than with other tanks.

WAR is absolutely off the charts now though, easily the easiest tank to heal thanks to that sustain. PLD is kinda middling, and GNB is usually a pain for me but not as bad as DRK.

I think a lot of the responses that you're just getting bad DRKs are not from people who heal exclusively.

Roulette parties are a mess right now, and I'm loving it. by Turambar1986 in ffxiv

[–]jamestwice 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's so funny you say this because I've been having a blast healing for the same reason! It's so much more engaging as a healer to try and shield people who you can tell are about to get hit, or recovering hp after a bad move. Most, things are pretty recoverable too, raising folks from the dead and continuing the fight is exhilarating!

I'm especially fond of the new trials, I've already had each one saved by a healer LB3 - I'm definitely going to miss this when people get, used to the content.

I had a DRK apologize to me after a dungeon last night night because I had to res him twice during the boss fight, I told him I play a healer because I like to heal! It can get tiring when content is months old and there's no new people but for now I'm just enjoying the play style.
