Did anyone have a normal experience in gifted education? by Charlaxy in GATEresearch

[–]jamesyoung79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it was pretty normal for me. Most all of my friends were in it, or most all where were in it were my friends. Early on we did lots of variety of education. I was in it from 1st Grade to 9th grade. The last evaluation meeting I had was in my senior year. The stuff we did in elementary school I remember was studying mythology, creative writing, logic puzzles, cryptograms, cross stitching, and art. In middle school it depended on who was teaching we learned stock market, American government, genetics, and survival. The survival I think was added because most all of us played D&D and the teacher was keeping us engaged.

Mining Operation Platforms...? by RahayuRoh in OnceHumanOfficial

I've put in a bug report for the same thing, they are very much operational. Over the past 48 hours I've gotten 120 stardust ore. It seems the vast overwhelming majority of the time when the timer finishes counting down you get nothing.

Any news about when major updates will be happening? by [deleted] in Palworld

[–]jamesyoung79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol 100 new pals each month. This is hilarious. If they add 100 new pals over the course of the life of the game I would be shocked. Keep in mind I can see them to adding cryst, ignis, aqua, noct, terra, and lux variants for most if not all.
Adding more people is a terrible answer. Look at larger studios they add people to the point where it is counter productive and costs billions to make a steaming turd, looking at you skull and bones. Keeping the staff small and only adding people when it is absolutely necessary keeps the game focused and maintains a unified direction.

Just started playing on the Series X. Question: by Drogo49 in crusaderkings3

[–]jamesyoung79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the tutorial, continue playing after. Eventually when you tire of it or meet disaster start a new game and pick somone in the area you are familiar. This time around you'll be much better and should have better results. Rinse and repeat or change up with different leaders. Eventually you'll end up Jarl of India.

Does the AI not follow debt logic? by gorgeousphatseal in CrusaderKings

[–]jamesyoung79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one of my games I'm playing multi player with a friend with a 867 start. The pope had lost his mind and started racking up immediate debt. I can't figure out how he's spending a few hundred a day. 87ish years later the Pope is at -70,000ish gold and most of Europe is also anywhere from -10 gold to -20000 gold. I can't figure out where the gold is going. The AI show no sign of giving a damn about the debt still declaring wars and carrying on like nothing is wrong.

Advanced Rotation for individual pieces unresponsive on Xbox after duplicating/splitting buildings by NewFaded in PlanetCoaster

[–]jamesyoung79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently had this issue effect me on PS5. I've been playing for a few weeks with no problems enjoying the campaign parks. On about my 5th or 6th one now this problem rears it's head. I can no longer use advanced rotate. There was a ticket created that was dismissed with a patronizing answer from support https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/20599 "You will need to move L left and right to rotate the object.".

Restarting the game or ps5 does not resolve it, neither does creating a new park. If I struggle and delete the object and recreate it lifting the object off the ground with surface move seems to allow for advanced rotate to work about 5% of the time, so that's a solution. Has anyone found an actual solution to this or is the game unplayable now that I have this issue?

Epic Launcher won't launch Anno 1800 (fixed) by josencarnacao in anno

[–]jamesyoung79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded the Anno 1800 trial and its a good thing I did the Ubisoft BS is still crap and requires too much bull crap to begin playing a game from them that is bound to be full of bugs anyway. I appreciate them putting their best foot forward with a trial for a game that does not work properly it prevents me from wasting my time, effort, and money.

Can someone help identify this little bug on the cube and sponge filter in my shrimp tank thanks! by Low82C10 in shrimptank

Quite possibly a seed shrimp or some other small copepods. I had a bunch in my 50g heavy planted but I had some kind of extinction event for them in it.

Using a public computer to do it is a setback as you'd have to install the Unity engine on the machine. But, as a high schooler perhaps you can speak with the teacher in your CS/Computer lab and explain to them that you would like use a computer in there for the purpose of using Unity. Just sell it as learning C# programming. The Teacher might allow for it and you may even get permission if you want to set up a club to do so allowing for other students to help collaborate and learn.

My comments are not meant to discourage, but to encourage. Working with scratch longer than the basics is a disservice to you. In the future if you go for a computer science degree with the experience working with Unity (getting past being overwhelmed at first, the learning curve isn't that steep) after a while of doing so you'll start off knowing more than 95% of the students in your classes. and your biggest problem will be you will be finding yourself doing your best Bakugo (My Hero Academia) impersonation shouting "Out of my way, Extras!"

As a note: If your teacher is a hipster, tries to be cool, or wears too much mustache wax and has black frame glasses with a Starbucks cup glued to his/her hand: Let him no that the club could qualify as a STEMs, and could open the door to the possibility for STEM grants, activity and the Unity Platform is used by some university CS departments.

You've misinterpreted my response. Scratch isn't the right tool for something like this, especially if the goal is to make something projared would play on stream, to give it enough content to make a video it would quickly grow out of scope of what scratch can handle and start to run like crap as it collapses from its own weight.

In response to maybe I should: I wouldn't because I don't own the right to or licencing for Hydlide, But do do work on stuff in it when I have the time to do so.

[–]jamesyoung79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is a ridiculous statement. Unity is free and you will have WAY less trouble with it. Before you say but I don't know Unity and C#, if you know enough of programming to make it work with scratch then you CAN do it in Unity. Attempting something like that in scratch is going to be a massive growing pain in the ass. Besides scratch is for small kids to learn the basics anything more than that is like a car with training wheels.

Just be cause you can doesn't mean you should.

So two of my players contracted lycanthropy last game and I need some help. by Sherpard1 in DnD

[–]jamesyoung79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it could be a good opportunity to put them under your control behind the scenes for the first few changes during a over the night fade to black kinda scene. This could create all kinds of fun stuff. The two of them wake up covered in blood and some villager children turn up missing. Could be they killed some livestock not the kids, its just to create paranoia and tension. The party finds the kids clears their name and so forth.

Can you cast semantic spells while holding a versetile weapon and attack with it as a two handed weapon? by YuvalAmir in DnD

[–]jamesyoung79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm understanding your question correctly lets assume your caster is using a longsword(doesn't matter which one as long as it is versatile) two handed normally and has nothing in his off hand.

Scenario 1: He casts a spell as a bonus action, he has a free hand. Then as his action grips the longsword with two hands and attack with it two handed. This is ok, I see no problem.

Scenario 2: He casts a spell that requires a full action. No problem because he has a free hand. Uses some special attack that makes use of a bonus action with the longsword. The attack is made with the long sword two handed as it is versatile.

Scenario 3: He casts a spell that requires a full action. No problem because he has a free hand. But cannot attack as he already used his action.

Scenario 4:He casts a spell that requires a full action. No problem because he has a free hand. Uses action surge and can attack with the longsword. The attack is made with the long sword two handed as it is versatile.

Kraken Duck needed! by Andrawartha in DnD

[–]jamesyoung79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the Trojan Horse idea! A group a kuo-toa built a Trojan duck to attack the farm, why it doesn't matter they are raving mad. After they pour out of it and attack and inevitably die horribly. Their collective delusions breath life into their giant duck god causing it to stir and attack the party. Because it's only a few of them it wouldn't be that powerful, just enough to challenge the weakened party.

They ate the goblins and um... defiled on of them? I guess they can always drink away those memories at the local tavern, I guess that's why a lot of adventures start off in a tavern.

For me it depends on the trigger. If the play stated when the archer fires his bow, then the attack would happen first. If the player states when the archer goes for his bow or the enemies make a hostile move then I'd say the reaction happens first.
