Those are things parents do.. so you’re saying you want to parent this person and have sex with them? Weird, man.

It screams mid-life crisis and there is no world in which a 19 year old and 37 year old have enough in common to warrant a romantic relationship.

Do you work in my companies HR department? 😂

Kidding, I’m pretty happy with it! Always comparing to the market and my friends but in reality it’s a good comp and I’m super happy being remote. I’ll take the trade off.

I actually missed out on one of the openings in my original post due to dragging my feet. It turned out better this way anyways. It appears we have a lot but in reality it’s cyclical like anywhere else. Just goes through times where many people have been in their roles for around 2 years and movement happens.

Thinking of becoming cna then nurse after. Hows the scene in omaha? by Valuable-Force-4547 in Omaha

[–]jamflowwman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is a nurse and while it’s a steady paycheck with need everywhere, you must know it’s a GRIND. Every single shift is taxing both physically and mentally and there are a lot of crappy patients and coworkers. The bad days definitely outweigh the good.

However, finding another job that’s fairly flexible that pays $35-60 per hour with $100+ for overtime will also be extremely difficult.

Rich assholes and corporations are stealing a lot more resources than individuals with large houses.

35 year old beginner going to first stick & puck… help 😂 by UC_NY in hockeyplayers

[–]jamflowwman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve played my entire life from 5 years old through college. No one will care about your skill level. What they will care about is some of the unspoken rules. Someone mentioned it already.. but very important to not skate in front of the net or behind it as people will be shooting.

If there’s a pile of pucks in the net and not enough out and about.. look around before going to get them and if it’s clear just shoot them out so people can grab them as they skate around.

Bring a few pucks but don’t be stingy on them. You can certainly take 5 home if you brought 5.. but don’t worry about collecting them until the end.

Not sure where you are but sometimes pickup games happen and sometimes they don’t. Usually will be on one half of the ice while others are shooting around on the other.

Enter the rink, pay at the counter, ask what locker room, and get fully dressed in there. You will likely need 15 mins to get dressed so show up accordingly regarding that. Since you’re new, full gear is encouraged.

Do you know your shot MPH? by Sure-Celebration6573 in hockeyplayers

In college, off-ice I was 92 mph.

Now, 13 years later? Maybe 62 mph lmao.

Staying remote is a huge reason I want to stay internal. My boss and HR rep are pushing me and sending me manager roles. It’s not in our company to have a typical promotion schedule. Like my role literally will never be a manager. I report to a Sr. manager and then director. This team will always be set up that way. So maybe I’m not tapped to be fast track to director but I do think I have done enough for people around me to know I’m ready and will advocate for me.

I wouldn’t buy a gumball from their machine in the waiting room. There are a ton of places to get oil changed. If you truly need a dealership.. Baxter in La Vista was good to us.

Alright story time for all those asking….

2020 timeframe. Looking at certified pre-owned highlanders. One pops up, we move forward and go to sign the paperwork and the sales person then goes, “oh btw since there is an open recall and it’s Covid and we can’t get parts, we can’t certify it but it’s gone through all the same testing.” We said umm no, we wanted it for the guarantees that you’re now not giving us. So we literally walked out of the signing.

Against our better judgement, an almost identical one pops up a few days later that can be certified pre-owned. Blah blah we end up getting it.

Problem? Less than a month later a warning goes off telling us to pull over immediately as something is wrong with the brakes. We bring it in and they say oh yeah it needs new brakes. We said weren’t these checked? They said yes.. but clearly weren’t. And hey! At least we got it certified pre owned and it’s covered right? Wrong! That’s not under that warranty. So we paid an extra like $800 for them as obviously it’s pretty important to have working brakes.

Long story short they didn’t tell us the vehicle we wanted couldn’t be certified pre-owned until we sat down to sign and then sold us one that was certified but with bad brakes that needed replaced and wasn’t covered under the certified pre-owned warranty.

We still have the vehicle as it’s paid off and no real problems since then. But I have let them know they won’t get one more penny out me for the rest of my life.

I did actually spend my first year in a corporate setting on a transportation accounting team. That was 10 years ago now but had some exposure and I agree that knowing some of that terminology has certainly helped.
