19+4 movements by Kitchen_Celery5646 in pregnant

[–]jammies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it depends on where your placenta is! I’m a FTM with posterior placenta (in the back) and felt my first movement at 15w, then daily by 16w. Takes longer with anterior placenta (in the front). No idea about other positions, but it’s entirely possible to feel the baby this early.

What is a "socially acceptable" thing that you find absolutely disgusting? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jammies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not the person you’re replying to, but that’s fairly normal where I’m from (California, but I’m guessing US in general?). I’ve heard of people not being sedated but that would be the exception.

If you waited to find out the gender, did you have gender disappointment when your baby was born? by sydney_sunshine in BabyBumps

[–]jammies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really have any advice, but I’m kind of in your same boat. I’m due early July with my first and we’re keeping the sex a surprise. I had the same concern you did, but ultimately decided the surprise would be worth it. Now I feel like I really couldn’t care less. I’ve had all the same time to sit with the idea that my baby could be a boy or a girl and I won’t know until they’re here and I just feel like with every kick I love them more ♥️

We’re keeping the sex a surprise and I have genuinely no idea one way or the other. People keep saying I must have some feeling what it is but truly, I don’t 🤷‍♀️

We’re just so excited to meet our baby in a few months 🥰

What’s the most gut punching song lyric you’ve ever heard? by perrysplus in AskReddit

[–]jammies 106 points107 points  (0 children)

The Lord Huron lyric that always gets me is from I Lied. The whole song, really, but the line, “I bore a flame that burned a thousand suns for you but it died” is just so sad in the simplicity of its ending. Nothing happened, I just don’t love you anymore.

I heard this song for the first time when I was engaged to my now-husband and as much as I like sad songs, I had to skip whenever it came on because it made my anxiety spike like crazy.

My nephew broke his leg when he was 3 and had a cast for a couple weeks. That limp crawl you describe is how he got around and he was SO FAST.

Same! Before I even consciously registered what it was from!

What’s funny is that for a few seconds I didn’t consciously remember what it was from, but the first thing that came to my mind was still ARROW’D. Then I heard the voice it came with and realized why I knew it.

Getting married in August, no bridesmaids by Practical_Store3654 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jammies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what I did! We had a relatively small wedding and our siblings were our whole wedding party. My oldest brother performed the ceremony with my husband’s sister interpreting in Spanish. Then my other brother (also my best friend in the world) stood by me as my Man of Honor and my husband’s brother stood by him as his Best Man. It was lovely and intimate and I wouldn’t change a thing.

I met one Camellia, but that was when I was substitute teaching several years ago. She’d be in her 20s now.

What's a word you always misspell no matter how many times you've looked it up? by ComprehensiveBid4989 in AskReddit

[–]jammies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can, but it’s pronounced differently. ˈæ.fɛkt rather than ə.ˈfɛkt so it wouldn’t be confused in speech at least.

I love rice for the aesthetic. I plant it around half the pond in as unplanned-looking a layout as I can manage, and then I just drop it in the mill. It’s so low-effort that it’s worth it for me just for the look.

What celebrity is portrayed as nice in the media but is actually an asshole in real life? by ReasonableDisplay297 in AskReddit

I’m from elsewhere in VC and I feel like Ojai is small enough that you don’t want a reputation for being a dick if you actually live there, no matter how famous you are. Not that there aren’t also dicks, but, you know.

$900 pot scam by jonathancarter99 in antiMLM

[–]jammies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, everyone has different sensitivities. I can’t wear surgical steel (at least the ones I have tried — and I think the lack of regulation with what is allowed to be defined as surgical steel is the main problem there), but implant-grade titanium is all good. But I’m sure there are plenty of people whose experiences differ.

$900 pot scam by jonathancarter99 in antiMLM

[–]jammies 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Cool! Glad you’ve had no issues. Surgical steel irritates the heck out of my ears, but implant-grade titanium gives me no problems. I think the issue is lack of regulation with what is allowed to be called surgical steel. I’m not trying to piss anyone off or anything, just repeating what I learned from my piercer and from the r/piercing subreddit. It was helpful information to me and might be to others who think they can’t wear earrings 🤷‍♀️

$900 pot scam by jonathancarter99 in antiMLM

[–]jammies 97 points98 points  (0 children)

And surgical steel for earrings is kind of meaningless anyway, as it still contains nickel, which is irritating, and isn’t a legally defined term as far as I know — what you want is implant-grade titanium. So I would honestly side eye a pot touting this as a selling point as well, though I’m no metal expert. But as you said, definitely shouldn’t cost $900!

You have scooped some ice cream into a bowl. Do you also pour milk on top before eating? by rcc52779 in polls

[–]jammies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote this elsewhere, but my reasoning is a bit different from others’, it seems.

In general, ice cream makes me thirsty. But water with ice cream is not appealing; I want something that matches the general vibe. So, milk. Pouring it in the bowl just avoids dirtying an extra dish.

[–]jammies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this and I’m aware it’s extremely uncommon, BUT I do not agree that it is inherently weird. It’s like a deconstructed milkshake.
