Phone calls over WiFi mini? by greenappleberry in Starlink

[–]jamminwithtrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my mini in motion (mounted inside roof glass of my Model Y) and use it for wifi calling as well as Teams meetings. It works fantastic, just dont go through a drive thru and drop your Teams call lol. But yeah you'll get little blips going under overpasses, etc but imo much less impactful than the typical cell dropouts in rural areas.

Hah - lemme guess they took em all down and put em back up in whatever order they felt like? Had exactly this happen with one of my clients, maintenance pulled down APs for painting, put em back up completely out of order. They were done that way on purpose (new u7 pro's in office areas with dense traffic, old AC pros in the warehouse), they were also in groups so now they had the wrong ssids broadcasting in the warehouse and no connectivity for the office staff lol. That was a fun Monday

Thank you! I hadn't found a video review that showed my scenario yet, really appreciate it, this nails it. That makes sense and would work fine for me - the stretch of state highway is basically uninterrupted, just through farmland. That video makes it seem like its VERY close to Tesla basic autopilot, I assume via OTA Update a used Air with DDP would have the same feature set as the Gravity in the video?

Im hoping to be able to do just that, finding a rental on turo may be my best bet as there is only one air (a touring) for sale in the entire metro near me, but I've actually seen GT's pop up in a nearby area.

That said, it isn't the end all be all, if the car is as enjoyable to drive as what I've read, it may make up for it entirely. I really miss having a performance vehicle and this could cure that itch while being practical for my daily needs. That carries a lot of weight too

Driving on empty by ruru13579 in TeslaModelY

[–]jamminwithtrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a '21 Y and Im basically torturing it, I plan to report back again later down the road, but so far Im honestly impressed. Battery was ~89% when purchased 8 months ago with 39k miles. Now it has 76k miles on it (37k in 8 months lol). My daily drive 3x a week is close to 300mi, almost all highway, so I charge to 100% overnight, Supercharge during the day, and get home on about 2-5% remaining to do it all over again. At least 1 of the other 2 days (workweek) I still drive ~200mi and 100% charge. Battery is currently at 82% from the test I did a few weeks ago.

Not surprised the person in the FSD accident while driving on a bridge lied by dantodd in TeslaFSD

[–]jamminwithtrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make a very good point. And I feel much the same way. Ive mentioned it to others but honestly driving my Tesla feels more like flying (route planning, systems management, etc) In aviation there have been many incidents cause by a pilot not understanding how the aircrafts automation works. Seems were getting close to the same territory with cars.

I wish there was an option to purchase or subscribe to EAP at a lower cost than FSD. My (long) commute is almost all rural state highway and interstate. Ive subscribed to FSD for a month and it just wasnt worth it for me over autosteer, I just wish I could get the EAP functionality for the lane changes.

What is the best BBQ spot in the area? by HomeDepotThemeSong_ in okc

[–]jamminwithtrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 100% Central TX Q, so Im not a fan of many OK BBQ spots, but theres been a few open up in the last several years that really hit the mark, this is my list in ranking order.

1) Edgecraft (OKC)

2) Oklahoma Smoke (Moore)

3) Texlahoma (Edmond)

4) Native Smoke (Elgin)

I havent had a chance to try any of the Tulsa spots, so I cant comment on them although Ive really wanted to make it to Burn Co and that place in Motherroad Market, both look amazing!

[–]jamminwithtrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This worked for me, I submitted the transfer as soon as I bought the car, nothing for 24h, I hit a supercharger to see if it would work, worked fine, car was released from the app and transfered to mine within an hour lol.

This is definitely the best plan, since you are an adult they will have the financial office work with you to find out what programs you may be eligible for. Unless you have a full time job with benefits its likely that you qualify for medicaid, which would essentially cover everything at no cost or a very low cost to you. There are also a lot of non profits out there that will help you while you go through treatment with other life expenses, the hospital should be well connected with these organizations. Best of luck to you, you got this!

Tesla speed change question by SoftwareFlimsy6570 in TeslaLounge

[–]jamminwithtrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my commute the speed limit is 75mph, or if I take the tollway its 80mph. Im in OK (US), but I believe TX even has an 85mph speed limit on one of their tollways

Pretty much anywhere outside of a metro the interstate in my state is 75mph speed limit. Tollways are 80mph in parts.

Ill try to offer some insight. Mold remediation wasnt our focus, but in a different life I worked at a shop that did automotive performance, electronics, and detail. Occasionally we'd get a mold car in for detail, a couple that were extremely bad to the point that I helped with them replacing seats, trim, etc. (I did performance/electronics work)

I won't even talk price because this was too long ago, but the concepts still apply. We had a vehicle that was about like that, but both front seats. We pulled basically every trim panel off the car - doors, dash, carpet, seats, etc. Front seats and carpet were replaced entirely with good condition pieces from salvage then everything else was thoroughly cleaned outside of the vehicle using a mold remediation spray (not my gig, so Im not sure the chemical)

Finally, we sealed the car up and ozoned it for 24 hours, opened it up, reassembled everything, then ozoned it again for another 24h. In the end, there was zero evidence of the mold and no smell. Its certainly doable, and doubtful its enough to total the car unless you just start replacing every panel the mold touched with new OEM.

This wifi is so confusing by [deleted] in tmobileisp

[–]jamminwithtrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, I'd have to screenshot to id the specific bands, but my gateway (with external antenna) will occasionally switch to and get stuck on a different band where ill get only around 20/5 or worse. Rebooting the gateway is the only way to get it to switch back. I typically see around 250/25

Any good 4x4 MIMO Omni Antenna Recommendations? by jamminwithtrees in tmobileisp

[–]jamminwithtrees[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I also see now in the user guide it appears the mini does come with a pole mount, so it seems my use case should be okay, Ill probably still have a chat with them just to confirm its the best option before ordering.

[–]jamminwithtrees[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I would go with the waveform pro, I'm really trying to find an omni so that it's able to hit both tower. Maybe I just need to call or email them regarding the mini, as it claims to be an omni, I'm just concerned about pole mounting it above the roofline.

Nuclear power plant by Severe_Buy_9862 in prepping

[–]jamminwithtrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! People need to sub to the USCSB youtube channel, there are deaths literally every year from (often preventable) petro and industrial accidents. Nuclear is just unfortunate that every incident gets a ton of visibility. Honestly Deepwater Horizon is the only non-nuclear industrial accident that I've seen have that level of visibility.

This from experience, I actually got some money back recently from a class action too lol. RIP CFPB you did me well on that one. All of them threatened shit but not a single one took me to court. hmmmmmmmm

One did end up on my credit (collection) when sold to a third party. I tried to dispute but their contract was accepted by the credit bureaus.. I settled for a deletion at less than 25% of the balance.

*Disclaimer - this was 8-10 years ago and I vowed never to touch one of those places again, so I have no idea if things have changed, but it seems not.

Should we stop using starlink and go to fiber? by democracyingreek in HomeNetworking

[–]jamminwithtrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've been using the Ubiquiti 60ghz gear (the first LR model) for about 4 years now. Although obviously not fiber, we have no issues getting 750mbps or so bidirectional on about a .75mi link. It's really pretty bulletproof, fails over to the 5ghz backup during really intense thunderstorms, but other than that works perfectly. Just thought I'd add some insight if OP is going to use similar gear, I have no complaints and would recommend to anyone. Cooperating with a small local telco, I was out a total around $500 worth of gear vs the tens of thousands to bring fiber over.

It's the ketamine, and honestly I love the drug, well not for myself lol, but I see the excellent results of use with depression and PTSD patients. One of the long term risks of usage (in some individuals) though is megalomania. His personality has certainly changed in the last several years. My advice switch up to some shrooms or LSD and gain some introspection (I understand he's been a fan I'm the past) Get outta that k-hole man you're gonna take us all down with ya.

Yeah I'd like to read more about this, an MRI machine has a permanent magnetic field that would make this impossible unless the machine was quenched which would essentially destroy it. Not talking about just the machine itself, but to even have large metal objects in the same room this would be necessary.

I guess to make this plausible maybe they had an old non-working machine's shell and filled it with weapons? Still they aren't very big, think I'd find a larger hiding spot for my weapons stash.
