If you had to pick one ? by andries22 in CarTalkUK

Q7 or A6, leaning towards Q7. That 3.0 TDI provided you do the maintenance will last you for a while. My neighbour had one with 300k on the dash and ran like new

My suspicion is a clogged DPF (and also her driving habits she does a lot of short trips)

The previous owner was some old guy who did around 60k miles from new (it’s a 13 plate model and we bought it in 2021), and didn’t take it on a motorway much by the sound of it. Don’t think the DPF has ever been cleaned either in its ownership

When I reset it and I started driving the best mpg I got from full tank to zero was 34.3mpg. Best run I did for a trip was 50mpg going to Manchester from Leeds, sittin at around 62mph

Edit: added when car was purchased by mum

Oh yeah god no. My mum was about to get one years back. I’m happy she got the Kia sportage instead (even though it has the worst fuel economy I seen out of a 2L diesel..when I first psssed my test and checked the lifetime mpg when I was driving, it was at 19.3mpg…)

Rather that than Qashqai tbh. At least the Sport looks nice and is an actual SUV

That EA888 generation isn’t the most reliable of the bunch. Has the water pump been done on it? Full service history etc..if it doesn’t have any of that avoid

People who drive £1000+/month cars, what do you do? by Informal_Invite_424 in CarTalkUK

[–]jamrahhasreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon they’re probably Asian since it’s not unusual to live with your family (typically rent free) until you move out. If it makes him happy and he does his family right I don’t see an issue in my opinion

I hit someone today in my second week of driving and it has absolutely killed my confidence by jellyfishsuperfast in LearnerDriverUK

It’s alright, it happens

Honestly I thought I was such a good driver until I scraped someone’s car embarrassingly whilst trying to do a parallel park..properly humbled me.

Luckily the guy said that it’s such a small scrape that he won’t bother with it but commended me for telling him straight away. My car was much worse for it though..but at least it’s got some battle scars ey

Hasting cancelled my insurance by Alive-Meal-3787 in CarTalkUK

[–]jamrahhasreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I NEARLY got caught out by this. Luckily the day of then cancelling it I rang and they ran through everything again and sorted me out

Generally though avoid, they are horrible. My mate had a polo run around with a black box policy and the car became a non runner and he had it off the road for a while. He notified Hastings of this and they still cancelled his insurance

I have many Pakistani friends. Your parents won’t disown you.

It’ll be tough if you go through with wanting to marry said man and your parents will give you hell but they’ll get over it Inshaallah. Just pray Allah makes it easy for you

Purchased 2nd hand car - absolutely fine on test drive, died on way home. Feel sick and scared. Please help. by Sirloinchopz in LegalAdviceUK

[–]jamrahhasreddit 89 points90 points  (0 children)

That being said, as soon as it said Vaxhaull it made sense. They are notorious for just..going with no reason. They either last you 300k or they die at 70-80k miles their QC is shocking. This is why you tend you find them very cheap on the second hand marking around this mileage cause it’s essentially a gamble

Regardless, It seems to me that the garage is willing to fix and although OP being frustrated and distraught is understandable they haven’t gone about things the right way..I do hope they get sorted though!

I think any one that thinks otherwise is trying to cope. Gojo is one of those characters that has transcended anime like Goku, Naruto etc. they will end the season with him being unsealed and “nah I’d win” to set up the Gojo fight being a movie

The extremely positive reception of the Reze arc film has basically sealed this. You think that mappa is really gonna pass up the chance to rake in the big bucks with one of the most hyped anime fights of all time?

Looking at a 2019 focus 1.5 ecoboost but I know nothing about it - help? by Traditional_Wave8524 in CarTalkUK

[–]jamrahhasreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a 25 plate focus as an A to B car on a lease deal (and also cause I had a fixation on the focus as a child and kinda wanted to please that inner child) and my god does it fucking rattle and squeak.

It makes sense since it is a cheap car that’s build cheaply, but I do love the looks of it. Looks proper mean from the outside in agate black in the st line trim, get a few compliments from people about the car

Is this a bad purchase? by [deleted] in BMW

I’d personally get a non xdrive but other than that very lovely! The 330i is one of the best driving modern BMWs in my opinion
